Sassafraz remains a landmark, we haven't been since the rebuild, but were happy to return to have brunch on the patio and get in some top notch Toronto people watching (and exotic car watching) The food quality and selection continues to be excellent, however we found the staff (beyond our waiter) to be generally un-invested. My wife had the Egg... More

Company event during Microsoft's World Partner Conference we had excellent food and service with an open bar. Perfect setting upstairs from the restaurant with lots of room to chat with our partners. Definitely will be top of mind for similar event.

The food was good, but service was excellent. The ambiance is just perfect and the whole experience was worth having lunch at this restaurant. I'd definitely go back. It is not accessible, though, so I'd avoid if you have young children and have a stroller or someone in your party has mobility issues.

Had a fantastic burger with cheese and a jalapeño aioli without the bun (gluten free). The herbed fries were yummy and also fried in a safe fryer. I had cherry sorbet for dessert. I don't need a lot of options just want it to taste good and be safe. One of the best lunches I've had in a long time.

Recently sent to Sassafraz for lunch. It was my first time there and I will definitely be back. Beautiful dining room. A large living plant wall and waterfall at one end. Heavy white linens and impeccable service. I was impressed. The lunch menu was perfect. Portion sizes were just enough without being overwhelming. Fresh ingredients and a creative menu. Just... I dined at Sassafraz with friends. The service was very good, and the host did a lot to accommodate our group that expanded as more people joined us. I ordered the BC hallibut, and found that it was over cooked, crusty on the top, and had way too much salt. It still tasted OK, but I had the sense it... More

We went to Sassafraz for our anniversary. They won't put any effort to present the food beautifully. I ordered Salmon and it was very simple with not much at the side. The portion of the food ,even by European standard is too small specially for the price. My daughter's burger was under-cooked but my fish was good. Do we go... More

Twice in two days stopped by for drinks; carried-out two dishes to airport. Drinks refreshing and perfectly iced; wine excellent. Food, when consumed several hours after take-out, absolutely delicious.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
