The back wall with the water and the relaxed (a.k.a., slow) reminds me of the south of France. The menu is nice and well executed, but nothing was very impressive. Decor is pleasant but dates, mojitos are generous on mint but week. I do find the back all lovely, but not a place I would return for a real meal.

Really great food, great service. Thank you! Nice patio outside or ask for a table by the window. This was a great location for 'date-night' and I would return again.

We have eaten here before and have always enjoyed the food and service. This recent visit the dining room was closed for a private event (which we were aware of) and we were seated in the casual section. Our waitress was nice and the food was good. We were next to the hostess and she could work on her friendliness.... More

We really enjoyed our 1st wedding anniversary at sassafraz. We had cocktails, appetizers, dinner and desert. The staff were extremely friendly and hospitable. They were very attentive and we are definitely going there again.

The day before our dinner, I walked in and made the booking, specifically telling the hostess that it was a birthday celebration for two. She made the point of telling me that she would ensure there was a slice of cake for my husband with the appropriate greeting, for dessert. On the big day, we came in at the appointed... More

Recently visited for lunch with some business colleagues. Menu had a lot of good options and food was good. Tuna salad and mushroom on toast fish were both great. The space was very nice with the room lit with lots of natural light. Service overall was great except for the sever who was rather brash.

Service was impeccable. The meals were art for the eyes and tastebuds. We had a marvellous meal. Wine list expensive but worth it. Save room for dessert!

Went there for my wife's birthday dinner while we were visiting Toronto. All dishes were excellent! What else is there to say? With service and food up to par with the best restaurants I've been to, the Sassafraz is a sure bet for any occasion.

Had a business lunch at Sassafraz with a client and it did not disappoint. Food was very well prepared and presented. Service was spot on and atmosphere was classic Yorkville. Would definitely return

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
