Got the Penang chicken curry with 5 chillies and spicy fish. They came with steam rice. It was soooo good.

Don't let the name confuse you-- there are like maybe 2 salads on the list ;) The majority are stir fries and noodle dishes and curries. super cheap and huuuuge portions I can never finish mine and take it home. You can decide how many chilli peppers you want in your meal-- a word of caution, dont try to impress... More

Second floor premises easily missed unless you look for sign at entrance on street level. Very, very busy and so noisy it's tough to have any sort of conversation during lunch hour due to Ryerson University students and normal working people looking for a great value in food. Thai dishes offer ranges of spicy heat as you prefer. Large servings,... More

Salad king is definitely one of my fav Thai places, I always order the panang curry with shrimp, mannnn they do NOT cheap out on the shrimp. The meal also comes with rice and many of these other Thai joints charge you for rice. For $11 you can't go wrong. Portions are all large and prices are sooooo cheap. Salad... More

We were so excited to return to salad king after 15 yrs. Yes we ate there a lot during our university years. It is still a very busy restaurant. Unfortunately, the food is bland, and average, not worth the long wait time. The Pad Thai was dry, the mango salad had no flavor, and the yellow curry was basic. I... More

My husband and I have been to Salad King a number of times and have enjoyed the food and lively atmosphere. Saturday dinner was our fist visit with our nine month old son. It was busy as usual and the host took our name promptly. We waited for 40 minutes for a table and during this time there were at... More

We stopped in for a quick dinner that was reasonably priced. We had the phud Thai, mango salad and spring rolls. The food was delicious and great service. It was very busy so we had to wait a few minutes for a table. The location is great. Close to downtown. Definitely worth the trip

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
