I went to Rodney's with a group of colleagues for dinner in the private room. The oysters were magnificent - we had at least 7 different varieties. Next came a couple of troughs of seafood, including black cod, crab, tuna tartare, lobster and shrimp. The presentation was fantastic. Service was good, but our group found ourselves waiting impatiently for our... More

The ambiance is really good, the service is as good as it can be, the menu is great, with new specials daily. Everything we had was great. Their oyster bar has many options.

Had a tip to Canada to visit family this summer, as was taken here for my first ever taste of Oysters, the staff here were great, I did not have a clue, so they made a few suggestions, very good experience, great staff and great place to go. hope I can revisit again some day soon.

Rodney's is the place to go for good seafood, especially oysters. There were several varieties and all were delicious. We ordered the dungeness crab which was perfectly cooked and tasty. Rodney's is casual but the food is great! Highly recommended!

We were told 15-20 mins wait after we requested to sit at the bar. A half hour passed and they sat us at table, meanwhile I saw empty seats at the bar the entire time and people that came in after us got seats at the bar. No one had had reservations either. We sat at the table but asked... More

Down the stairs. Dark. Dinghy. We sat in a sort of closed seafood bar. Looked as if at one time that was where they had the oyster bar? Still a lobster tank there. Service was a bit slow after our first server left mid dining experience. In fact we had to stop another server to bring more water and drinks.... More

Made a reservation and walked in right on time I'm not sure what kind of problem that hostess had but she was so rude my wife and I should have walked out. We ordered the soups which were good. The lobster fool was a few chunks of lobster covered with mayonnaise on a bad roll. The Cobb salad had this... More

The oysters that we ordered were wonderful. The sauces made them even better. The crab and shrimp also were very good. Get the garlic shrimp over the cold shrimp. The restaurant is very casual. The wine menu was okay, not great. For oysters, something like a California "champagne" would have been nice.

We liked our meal here but was not blown away by it. Everything was fine, but nothing was very special.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
