I was looking for a light late supper and found it here. I had their soup of the day, which was a tasty creamy lentil, and the very good Summer Greens. Perfect. Good service also.

If you are in need of a quiet spot for an unrushed lunch downtown for a business meeting that is perfect for in depth conversation mixed with decent food, excellent service and is close to the financial core, I would go here. This place has been excellent to my colleagues and I over the past 4 years. I can alway... More

We ate at the Portico because we were staying at the Cambridge Suites Hotel. It was very quiet while we were there (from around 5-630). The server was lovely and attentive. We had a lot of different food issues to deal with (vegetarian, food allergies, small child), but everyone found something to their liking on the menu. The cucumber/strawberry infused... More

I had dinner here three nights of a five night stay. The restaurant is nicely decorated and comfortable, but seemed very slow - not may diners. The service was very good (probably due to staff to diner ratio) and the food was quite good, but I found the menu to be somewhat limited for my tastes. I had the grilled... More

The breakfast options are extensive, but at the same time it wasn't anything different from any other hotel buffet breakfast. So, if going for breakfast that you need to pay for, I would recommend skipping this place if you are a foodie. If you like the same old classic stand by's for breakfast or you have a free hotel breakfast... More

We wandered in here for dinner while staying at the Cambridge Suites. The food was great and the service was excellent. The beet salmon starter was excellent and I also really enjoyed the steak. My partner had the mushroom soup starter and pork main and also really enjoyed it. Would definitely eat here again when in the city.

This wouldn't be your first choice for a grand night on the town, I admit, but if you are after a decent meal at a reasonable price, this would likely do. Menu is not extensive but it covers the main bases. Same could be said for their limited, but serviceable, wine list. The beef ribs and pad thai were both... More

Nearby four major neighborhoods (Business and Entertainment districts, downtown Yonge and Old Town) This establishment is a beauty. Got seated very promptly and got waited on by a guy named Renee, but I had a "issue" with the hovering manager who basically had no issues to deal with, a well oiled machine. So me and my mother enjoyed a world... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
