Not kidding at all. I've been a fish and chips lover all my life. I've had fish and chips in almost every country I've been to. And this place takes the winners cup. They love what they do and it shows in everything they serve.

I had the halibut and my boyfriend has the haddock. What fantastic fish and what outstanding chips. You will not have any regrets or complaints except maybe not having room for dessert.

The best fish and chips I have ever eaten were at a prize-winning location in Whitby, England, called Magpie Fish and Chips. I can honestly say that Olde Yorke rivaled them, and in my wife's opinion, surpassed them. If you enjoy fish and chips, and are in the Toronto area, do not pass up the opportunity to sample the very... More

This is maybe the best fish & chip we have ever had. The fish is fabulous and the fries is also very very good. The fish sandwich is surprisingly good with generous cut of fish. The environment of the restaurant is well kept, very clean. The service is always friendly. Definitely worth the trip and money.

We have been going to the Old Yorke on a regular basis for a number of years and still find it is the best fish and chip place that we know of in Toronto. The quality of the fish is always very good, the service is friendly and quick, there is a good choice of imported beers and other drinks,... More

went in with my kids during a terrible week overall. we all love this place. it's been at least a couple of years since the last time for me. we had to wait in line (on a Wednesday), which is an indication they're doing everything VERY right. we ordered a variety of fish choices - some had salads, some had... We used to go to other places in Toronto for fish & chips and found this one as a very good alternative: nice food, very nice service and quick, nice country atmosphere, good parking, highly recommended.

The place is not to find. A small parking lot nearby. There is a bus stop at the doorstep of this eatery. Not sure the origin and the destination of the bus. Arrived around 1:15PM and waited few minutes for a table which is right next to a small window, which is perfect on this sunny day. Ordered two lunch... More

There are lots of places that serve fish & chips but Old Yorke is like being in England. Everything from the decor and the smell of beer to the actual fish & chips. The fish and chips are excellent but for a real treat order the platter!

Staying in East York

Neighborhood Profile
East York
East York includes a portion of old, industrial Toronto. Densely populated but incredibly safe, it boasts some of the city's earliest gardens and gardening clubs, attracting green thumbs everywhere. The tranquility of the Don Valley River area, which is rich with Toronto's oldest and tallest forests, is supplemented by the large ensemble of authentic and refurbished Edwardian homes, giving parts of East York allure. The other draw is for foodies: lovers of Bangladeshi fare will find authentic restaurants and markets in the area, with raw spices and desserts. East York also represents a lot of Toronto's Serbian food culture, and recently, has had an outcropping of solid microbrewery stops. For families, the science center is a favored weekend stop.
