I'm addicted to cassoulet, and Le Select Bistro prepares an excellent cassoulet with duck confit. Lunch started with a frisee salad topped with lardons and a poached egg. And it was accompanied by a glass of their house syrah. I absolutely loved the food. The staff were lovely and friendly and professional (appropriately engaging, but not intrusive). Their restaurant is... More

great place. Had 13 people at our table and the service was perfect, not rushed but attentive. The food was great and beautifully presented. The wine list is a novel not a list. Many many choices, perfect for the wine expert. Love this place, need to go more often.

Visited the Select Bistro on my last night in Toronto and found it to be very good and true to its French origins. Service was very good, although at times it did take a while to get attention. The food was very good and didn't disappoint. I had the Escargot Volovan, delicious and the Venison filet, really quite exceptional. The... More

Restaurant is tired and so is the food. First time at this resto--we shared the Salmon Tartare which was OK--my duck confit was dry and bland--my spouse ordered the Bouillaibaise which supposedly contained octopus, shellfish and fish--other than 6 mussels, it contained none of the other ingredients. Poor value for mediocre food.

Visited here for brunch on the weekend. I haven't been since they changed locations years ago. The service was courteous and prompt, the food delicious, but the portions quite small.

The last time I visited Le Select must be twenty years ago or thereabouts at their Queen West location. At one time we'd frequent there roughly monthly. Went for Saturday brunch with out children and their grandchild. First hiccup was there was no reservation. I know my son booked it. Anyway short wait and we were settled in. Coffee arrived... More

First visit with friends who call this their 'go to' spot. I can absolutely understand why. Attractive, careful bistro menu. Excellent tomatoes bisque. Tasty, well cooked duck. Terrific steak and frites. Attentive service. Will definitely return.

Fell in love with this place way back when they were on Queen St. Great food great service and the warm friendly ambiance remain. The only thing we miss is the bread baskets hanging from the ceiling. Free parking in the back. We'll be back over and over again :)

Because by doing so it will be more difficult to visit than it is already. It is one of my favourite haunts in the City. I love Fr. Cuisine and the food is very good and does not cost an arm and a leg. Fantastic Wine List ! Just visit the washrooms and you will see how extensive it is.... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
