We ate here two years ago on recommendation so revisited with a larger party. Everything is excellent and the Frech onion soup as divine as ever. Highlight- the Quebec pie - yummy!

Recently I dined at the papillon restaurant on front street in toronto. the atmosphere was very nice as was the service. Our waiter was very good. The food was just ok. I had the seafood pasta and it really did not have much taste. My colleagues had a similar experience although one enjoyed their meal more than we did. The... More

The first thing that we liked about Le Papillon was the greeting at the door -- the start of a great meal experience with attentive, professional service. (The second thing was the beautiful decor of the restaurant.) Our group of four ordered different mains: two different crepes, cassoulet, and seafood on puff pastry -- everything was well presented and delicious.

Great location in Toronto. Alex & Thomas waited on us and they were friendly & knowledgeable. French onion soup was fantastic. My son and husband loved creme brulee. Our meals were great! Service was fast and efficient. The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice! I enjoyed and would recommend!

Great food, great atmosphere, great staff. My wife and I stopped by for dinner before a later show at the Sony Centre which is about a block away, so very convenient location wise. We had a 4 course dinner special offer. This included an appetizer and a soup/salad to share. 2 Mains and 2 Desserts along with 2 Martini's(no top... More

Having just moved into the area, I was looking forward to having a meal at Le Papillon for several reasons. First it was next door to our new condo, and secondly, I remembered it as being very good many years ago. And thirdly, I wanted somewhere close for a quick lunch with my cousin. Having surmised the menu before we... More

My husband and I ate at Le Papillon before the theatre last evening and were very disappointed in our meal. My husband had the small French onion soup which he enjoyed except for its minuscule size. His tourtière was "okay" - tasty but bland - and his steamed veggies were absolutely plain and uninteresting. I had two appetizers, starting with... More

This restaurant is near St Lawrence Markets and close to Yonge St. We arrived about 6.30pm, no reservation, and seated promptly. Large restaurant with tables also outside. It was originally a warehouse and lots of character. Water and bread came quickly as did our order. We had the smoked duck and three meat pie, both served with vegetables and delicious.... More

Le Papillon on Front is located in the heart of Old Town Toronto. Inside of a beautiful Old Town Toronto building with exposed brick walls and high lofty ceilings sits the beautiful venue for Le Papillon on Front. It's exposed brick is complemented well by the aged hardwood floor and perfectly soft lighting. The venue suggests a lovely mix of romance, comfort, and of course, the classic French bistro atmosphere that has followed Le Papillon to all of its locations. In the warmer months Le Papillon on Front even creeps its way onto Front street, giving a beautiful view of the Flatiron building as well as the CN tower in the distance. With a closed in patio adorned with wonderfully arranged planters you experience a private feel, even while sitting on the heart of Front Street.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
