This used to be called Jacques Omelettes but the owners changed their name to be less specific. The food is good and service is attentive. The owner is on the scene to make sure you have a satisfactory experience. It's not cheap but it's worth the price. The only problem for me is that the tables are very close together... More

Love this place -- very intimate and welcoming. I always ask for a window seat to look out onto Cumberland. Staff are unfailingly amazing, attentive and helpful with menu and wine choices. This lunchtime visit I enjoyed the nicoise salad, although the omelettes looked very tempting. Perhaps next time. Yes -- we indulged and asked for the dessert menu. All... More

We had a quest that took us and some friends for dinner and suggested a "French Restaurant". Jacques was convienient and the reviews seemed favourable. The owner was quite apologetic when our table was not ready. The staff we very accommodating to relocate us to a lager table when it became available between our starter and main. The menu is... My review is based on the fact that I was under the impression that this was a 'fine dining' french bistro and not a neighourhood grill... perhaps I was mistaken... and if it is just supposed to be a neighourhood grill then ok... 4/5 stars would work... but the prices are ridiculous if that is the case. I'll be honest,... More

It seems we have been going to Jacques forever....Although Toronto's restaurant scene offers a great variety of culinary " experience", and cuisines from every part of the world, there is a reason why Jacques is always busy... why patrons check their calendars, to see when the annual vacation closure ends, and Jacques re-opens. This review will not discuss individual items... More

Exceptional food! A gem in the heart of Yorkville. Our waiter was Oliver who took great care of us. He even walked with us to the park across the street after the meal and told us its fascinating story!

We were here with friends who had never dined here before, and they were impressed (as they should be). As for me: from my chilled cream of watercress soup through the sweetbreads to the raspberry tart, everything was superb. The others loved their meals as well. One of them drew attention to an aspect of Jacques that is immensely endearing:... More

We went last night with friends and sat in the back by the open windows. It was a hot, humid day in Toronto and while Jacques' does not have A/C, we were fine. The food was the usual very high quality, well-priced, and authentic French bistro cuisine. We are never disappointed. We had California salad, cold asparagus soup (wonderful!!), hot... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
