This was our second and unfortunately, last visit. It was nowhere near capacity on this evening (Valentine's Day). There were three servers for only 7 tables, yet service was extremely slow. Once we were able to place our orders, food came quickly, but it was nothing special. We were half finished our meal before server asked if we'd like grated... More

This has been a Toronto reliable place for years. Famous for the self select antipasto. Had a good lunch here. If you are in the area it is worth dropping by.

I used to go to Grano very often in the early 90's. Roberto was always there welcoming clients and providing a superb experience. His wife was running the kitchen and the food was family style, very good and consistent. I decided to invite a close friend of mine and was looking for another great experience. While the place used to... More

Grano has been an institution near Yonge and Eg for decades. But what about the spotty service, the tired decor, the food that seemed devoid of flavour? Institutions don't last for ever, without some new thinking. I'm not sure I would recommend this place without a bit more effort.

I needed to meet an associate in the Yonge / Eglinton area of Toronto today and we agreed to meet at Grano for lunch. Yet again I was extremely pleased with the quality of the meal and with the service. My associate had the tomatoe soup (clearly described as not being gazpacho) and the sausage and I had an arugula... More

On this lunch occasion, I enjoyed the gazpacho soup but found the Caprese pizza to be disappointing. Very thick and hard crust, toppings seemed to lack flavour. Service was good until the end, when trying to pay the bill. As some of us were in a hurry to leave, processing was slow. However, we will return for the location and... More

Grano used to be a place we looked forward to. Tonight closed the cover on a storied tradition! In a bygone time Roberto met you at the door and your experience just grew from there. Now it has become a chore to serve customers and the food and drink is just about making margin - quality has left the building.... More

A small group of friends, getting together for lunch, could not choose a better place than Grano. Friendly service. Excellent minestrone soup. Nice menu selection. Pizza calabrese was tasty and filling.

We visited on a weeknight and basically had the whole restaurant to ourselves for the first hour or so. Lovely, cozy place with a good menu selection. Three of us ordered a salad, the squid ink pasta, assorted fish in broth, braised pork and a rapini side to share. The dishes were good overall, but I will definitely be back... More

Staying in North End

Neighborhood Profile
North End
The North End is a nucleus of specialty food restaurants and shops, especially around its Mount Pleasant Village area. Frequented by antiquers for its numerous collectable shops, furniture spots, and oddity stores, the North End is a maverick of the quaint and quality. Vintage toy stores, accessory shops, and cinemas welcome perusers to step back in time, while the wide pedestrian squares and the large medical and business community inject it with a dose of modernity. With numerous cafes and Toronto's greatest number of independent booksellers, it isn't uncommon to see folks in this area at their leisure, reading outdoors and in eateries, and taking life a bit more slowly – even if it's only during their lunch break.
