Came here on a Thursday night with some friends with a reservation. It looked full but there are more spots upstairs. It appears there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant so service was slow. However, she was helpful in letting us know how it worked. We got the tibs, chicken weekend special, and the beef. It comes in... More

My partner loves Ethiopian Food, I enjoy it but not nearly as much as she does. She is scent sensitive so had a bit of problem with the burning smudge or incense. We met with family who come here frequently. The same chap that has always served us was there to greet us when the doors were unlocked at noon.... More

We were not familiar with the dishes and the wait staff were very helpful. The food was very tasty and we enjoyed our visit immensely. The coffee smelled fantastic, but we skipped it because they bring a full pot and we were going to the theatre. They actually have a coffee ceremony. There are sampler dishes that allow you to... We've eaten here a few times. It feels odd to use your hands to eat. The foods are tasty, the spices great. The selections are nice. I was worried about the raw meat, but it was good each time. The coffee is amazing. You need to order it pretty well when you order dinner so it can be prepared. Don't... More

We have eaten Ethiopian food in a number of different places in and out of Toronto. This is definitely in the top 2 of welcoming restaurants. My daughter is vegetarian, so we shared the vegetarian mix of Ethiopian foods using the injera bread as the method to scoop up the foods. Amounts of everything were enough, but not too much-... The food was amazing. The service was great and the owner is really personable. We went in for lunch and the food I wanted was a lunch special. Once the bill came, I insisted on paying more for it. All round superb experience. Will definitely look to revisit!

I first went here almost 20 years ago and loved it! We haven't been in 8 years so were keen to return. I've had Ethiopian food in other cities but this is still the best. My husband and I always go with the vegetarian special and share it. The selection of veggies steeped in Ethiopian spice are amazing. The injera... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
