I've worked for years in Peru and it is rightly known for some of the most amazing food on the planet. Knowing that we are a long way from Peru, I wasn't expecting a five star experience, but El Fogon is only about two stars. I give it three for the very good version of the classic Peruvian cocktail, the... More

I took a friend there to try out some Peruvian food. I ordered some cerviches and a plate of seafood while my friend ordered a steak. The cerviches was excellent and came in a good portion with some fried calamaris on top. The liquid looks milky but there's definitely lime juice in it. The seafood plate was wonderful because the... It was a very good restaurant with nice accommodating staff. The food was nice. It was our first time to try their cuisine and we are impressed.

This spring we went to Peru and Ecuador and when we came back, we wanted more Peruvian food and so we went to El Fogon. We had excellent Peruvian Chicken Soup - a miracle cure if you are recovering from a travelling incident or just want a delicious and nutritious soup. We also had crispy chicken - a breaded piece... I travel a lot for business and go to multiple restaurants around North America. This is by far THE WORST service I have EVER received at a restaurant in my life. And all my friends who were with me would agree! I usually only review good stuff, but this service was so bad I just HAD to put it out... More

We went on a Saturday evening. We entered, were not greeted....waited a few minutes before someone actually noticed we arrived. Once we sat down and ordered (after 10 minutes of sitting), we waited ONE FULL HOUR for an avocado salad!!! Are you kidding me? On top of the salad was an EMPTY shrimp tail "for decoration" YUCK. Seemed the cook... More

Restaruant environment is good. Food was not very flavorful. Service was ok, although food came out very slow. Maybe it's their off day.....

I went with a fairly large group and the meal I ordered wasn't at all as described. None of the ingredients described came to my plate. And the meal I did receive wasnt seasoned at all. Plus, we had told the waiter ahead of time we wanted separate bills. When he came at the end with one bill and we... More

Yuck! That's how I want to start. Here we were looking for some well cooked fish, and I ha heard Peruvian preparation of fish is amazing with an interesting blend of spices. Boy did this restaurant disappoint. While the ambiance and service was good, the food was just plain terrible. I don't know if I got them on the wrong... More

What a great place this is! It's a Peruvian restaurant, nicely decorated, comfortable seating, excellent service. We ordered an appetizer trio to share - with breaded and fried calamari, fried plantains and fried cassava -- served with huancaine dip -- one of the best I ever had! The breading was light, none of the fried foods were greasy, the plantains... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
