3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed yesterday NEW

Went pre-theatre with another couple. The menu was extensive but plastic covered pages are cheap looking. Resto too dark as well so hard to read the menu. The Cesare Salad had "home made " dressing but was water. Sprinkled cheese came in a bowl and should be freshly shredded by hand at the table for a restaurant of this caliber.... More

Ordered the torelinni and my date had the seafood ravioli. The atmosphere upstairs was very cheesey with cheap prints on the walls and old walmart guitars in the corner. The foot was rich, almost too rich. I presume there is a stick of butter per plate. The ceaser salad dressing seemed cheap and watery. Though I did like the lettuce... More

My daughter and I, while travelling in Toronto, decided to have our first dinner at Donnatelo not thinking that it was also on St-Valentine's day. The place was full (good thing we had a reservation) and seems a little hectic at first while we waited to talk to the hostess who seemed to be a little disorganized. Once seated though,... More

Had a nice dinner here over the weekend. The service was outstanding, friendly, attentive, and easy going. Nice shrimp cocktail and pasta. The décor was super cozy and pretty on a cold winter night.

Booked a social dinner for 20 colleagues coming to Toronto from all over Ontario. Service and food was great. Connected on line to book the reservation and found the service great. Helped me choose the menu and organize the event. Food was great and service very attentive. 20 people with separate bills caused some confusion but they fixed it quickly.... More

Stopped in the last night of a short trip to Toronto. Was actually a very good meal. Had the bruschetta and spaghetti bolognes and bother were very good. After looking at other reviews I was disappointed to find out the spaghetti noodles are not house made. They also let me go upstairs to the bar a the restaurant was a... More

We had planned a reunion of eight for the evening but after we had been seated at a table for eight we found that two people could not make it. On hearing this, our waiter moved us to a round table for six, which was much more conducive to conversation. Donatello offers an extensive Italian menu with some daily specials... More

I has bruschetta and pasta - nothing adventurous but tasty. The worst I can say about the food is that the portions are rather large. Service was efficient. For a popular downtown restaurant on Saturday night, it wasn't too noisy even though it was full.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
