We had the steak special. Cooked to perfection. Waiter was awesome. Never had a bad meal here yet. Visited in June and ate here three times.

I made a visit to the Brownstone Bistro recently and the location and decor was wonderful! I had the eggs benedict which was presented nicely and for the most part tasted wonderful but the hollandiase sauce tasted watery and fell flat in my opinion, however, not all was lost. The salad that I ordered was fresh and tasted very good.... More

I was surprised that you get a lot of the food gluten free. I tried the gluten free Pizza. But the beef is good too.

Cute place with very nice service but the food really fell flat. I ordered the breakfast casserole which had way too much zucchini and the potatoes really looked and tasted like bread crumbs. My girlfriend had the Caprese Frittata and it was too oily so she only ate half. They gave us these mini banana muffins to start and those... More

I visited Brownstone in July 2016, after years of not having visited. I had the chicken strips from the appetizer menu, and a cocktail. For $10 you receive a few small pieces of chicken in balsamic vinaigrette. It is served with plum sauce, but the flavour of the plum sauce competes strongly with the balsamic, making for a strongly unappealing... More

I often get to the Brownstone Bistro when I visit my daughters in Toronto. I have had several great meals here, but my favorite is the 4 oz. filet mignon. It's small, but it has to be the best I have ever had!

Enjoyed this establishment a few times over the weekend and have been an occasional brunch patron for years. Staff is always pleasant and the food always is great.

We happened into the Brownstone Bistro during a "restaurant week" type of deal where the food is discounted across town at lots of places. Often this means staff are harried and the food is not as good. In this case we really liked what we had and the service was friendly and attentive. We both had a chicken dish with... More

Went to lunch on Friday with 4 girlfriends ... we enjoyed the Summerlicious menu and the regular menu. Selections were interesting and well priced. Good beer selections. Food was generous and delicious. Service was ok - they were pretty busy because of Summerlicious. Handy location on Yonge Street, a short walk south from Bloor.

We had a one night stopover in Toronto and wanted a place to eat close to our hotel and suitable for the picky eaters in the group. The hotel recommended that we try the Brownstone Bistro. We were delighted with the funky, welcoming decor. Friendly service and a very affordable prix fixe three course seasonal menu added up to a... More

Family owned Italian/Continental fusion restaurant. We have been a staple in the Yonge and Wellesley community for the past 13 years. Just recently we underwent a major renovation courtesy of the TV show Restaurant Takover on the Food Network. Ambiance is elegant and classy without being pretentious or stuck up. Our exceptionally-trained staff provide our guests with fast and efficient service while ensuring they feel relaxed and comfortable, never rushed. But most importantly, they make sure our guests feel welcome in our home.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
