This an old fashioned restaurant with white tablecloths, room to sit, quiet enough for pleasant conversation and excellent food and service. Not fancy but really well cooked and presented bistro food. Consistently good. Highly recommend.

Blown away by the welcoming staff, beautiful decor, and exquisite food. Experienced as a theater package for Matilda, and couldn't have imagined a better place to start our evening!

We enjoyed our drinks outside on the patio and did some people watching. Great neighborhood off Yonge and Church area. Service was very good, attentive and professional. We'll come back. Food menu looked very nice, as did the dining area inside.

We happened upon this restaurant/bistro while walking down Jonge Street. In their window, they advertised jazz for that evening and a specially priced three course menu. So, after checking out the menu, we made a reservation. The dining room is off of the bar and has warmth and appeal. Older brick building that had an authentic feel and good vibe.... More

Four of us had dinner pre-theatre on a Saturday night. The menu offered lots of variety. All the food was good though the arabiatta pizza was not spicy at all. The service was fantastic. I like that the restaurant can easily split the bill for individual billing, even splitting a bottle of wine four ways.

Always looking for good brunch spots in my neighbourhood. I don't know why I haven't discovered this place sooner! I've walked by it so many times. The decor is wonderful! Nice, open space, bright! My room mate told me that they give you complimentary muffins. Perfect with butter! and they're selection for brunch is great! My go to for brunch... More

We had the steak special. Cooked to perfection. Waiter was awesome. Never had a bad meal here yet. Visited in June and ate here three times.

I made a visit to the Brownstone Bistro recently and the location and decor was wonderful! I had the eggs benedict which was presented nicely and for the most part tasted wonderful but the hollandiase sauce tasted watery and fell flat in my opinion, however, not all was lost. The salad that I ordered was fresh and tasted very good.... More

I was surprised that you get a lot of the food gluten free. I tried the gluten free Pizza. But the beef is good too.

Cute place with very nice service but the food really fell flat. I ordered the breakfast casserole which had way too much zucchini and the potatoes really looked and tasted like bread crumbs. My girlfriend had the Caprese Frittata and it was too oily so she only ate half. They gave us these mini banana muffins to start and those... More

Family owned Italian/Continental fusion restaurant. We have been a staple in the Yonge and Wellesley community for the past 13 years. Just recently we underwent a major renovation courtesy of the TV show Restaurant Takover on the Food Network. Ambiance is elegant and classy without being pretentious or stuck up. Our exceptionally-trained staff provide our guests with fast and efficient service while ensuring they feel relaxed and comfortable, never rushed. But most importantly, they make sure our guests feel welcome in our home.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
