Family owned Italian/Continental fusion restaurant. We have been a staple in the Yonge and Wellesley community for the past 13 years. Just recently we underwent a major renovation courtesy of the TV show Restaurant Takover on the Food Network. Ambiance is elegant and classy without being pretentious or stuck up. Our exceptionally-trained staff provide our guests with fast and efficient service while ensuring they feel relaxed and comfortable, never rushed. But most importantly, they make sure our guests feel welcome in our home.

We tried the Winterlicious menu which had plenty of variety. The restaurant is spacy, with a bistro style décor. The waitress was very accommodating with our special requests. The salad was fresh and well prepared. The main course was well presented, well cooked (I like my steak actually medium rare) and tasty. The fries were a bit gooey, but they... More

I had called ahead and was told we did not need reservations. When we got to the restaurant there was a small line up but after 10 minutes of waiting nobody came to ask us is we needed a table or greet us. There was only one guy moving tables he did not even acknowledge anyone in the line. We... More

I am regretting not saying anything to the manager after my disappointing first experience at Brownstone Bistro last night. Firstly, we had to wait an hour to be seated for our reservation. After waiting 25 minutes without being told anything, I went to ask when we would be seated and was ignored by the hostess and the gentleman in the... More

I'm writing this review on behalf of my son and his girlfriend who went last night and took advantage of Winterlicious (one of three restaurants they are going to). They came home so disappointed (and, trust me, they are not all that picky). They dine out fairly frequently and this was their worst experience. Service was slow, slow, slow and... More

NEVER EVER GO TO THIS RESTAURANT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!! First, we had a reservation for 8pm but we don’t get seated until 9pm. We figured it was understandable because sometimes things like that happen… except the restaurant wasn’t extraordinarily busy and it was a Sunday night. Once we finally sat down, we waited over 25 minutes for someone to come... More

I am not sure about anyone else but when Winterlicious and Summerlicious come around I get very excited and take the time and effort to scour thru tons of menus to find the restaurants I want to try. This year I came up with Brownstone Bistro. I was very upset I wasted my option. I had dinner at 5:00 on... More

Went there for Winterlicious based on the menu hoping to discover a great restaurant in Toronto but left disappointed. They did not have the goat cheese for their 'Warm Goat Cheese' appetizer as advertised on their Winterlicious menu. They also did not have the gorgonzola cheese, fresh market fruits, or walnuts as advertised under the 'Spinach Salad' appetizer on that... More

I came to Brownstone Bistro on a Saturday night during Winterlicious for my best friends birthday. We arrived on time for our reservation at 9. It took about 15 minutes to seat us. We ordered our drinks and they took so long to arrive. We ordered our food and it took over an hour for our food to arrive. The... More

The restaurant was not too busy on a recent Wednesday evening. We had a reservation for 2 but it was not really necessary. We were seated at a window with a good view of Yonge Street. They have a good bar selection, including a wide assortment of draft beer. My friend had a chicken wrap with sweet potato fries. I... More

45 minutes for appetizers (soup and salad) to arrive. Medium rare steak was shoe leather tough. Keep walking and try another option in the neighbourhood.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
