I was here today at a reception, but not just finger food. Seats comfortable, pizza, wraps, finger food especially beef on a skewer were delicious. Service was excellent.

My mom and I made reservations for Winterlicious, because this place is close to her home. We had a lovely meal, and excellent service. When my mom asked if she could order off the regular menu, there was no problem. The place was quiet when we arrived (6:30) but full and bustling when we left 90 minutes later. I highly... More

We've been coming here for years, through various ownerships. It's like coming back to visit old friends. This is still a midtown gem. Full of neighbourhood regulars. Excellent menu standbys with imaginative specials. Nothing too extravagant, just always reliable food well-cooked and served. Perfect for a cold February night and a great value during Winterlicious. Decor hasn't changed but shouldn't.... More

We reserved and did not realize it was Winterlicious time. We did not want to order from that menu and were looking forward to the a la carte menu. We were told it would take lots of time and they seemed to not want us to order from the regular menu. They were short-staffed and it appears that they were... More

The atmosphere of the restaurant was welcoming. The service friendly and efficient. I had the daily special, a chicken pasta dish, which was very tasty and a generous portion. I would recommend this restaurant, and I will definitely come back.

Have visited Brownes Bistro on several occasions previously but this time the food was terrible. Bland buffalo mozzarella salad, lukewarm calamari, steak tasted like smoke, French fries tasted like dirty oil. The wine was terrific and the service was great!

Tried this on a Friday night based upon a friends recommendation. We were pleased, but nothing special. The restaurant is well hidden just a few feet off a main street so you will not likely discover it by accident. It is a trattoria not a bistro as the menu is heavily Italian with little to no French influence. Lots of... More

This was a nice discovery. A reasonably priced bistro near the heart of Toronto. Our service was excellent. The menu was varied and the food good. The atmosphere was cozy and quiet, a relief from the loudness of many restaurants. I was disappointed that there was no local beer, but that was my only criticism.

Here is a lovely small restaurant (just 18 tables) tucked away at the corner of Yonge and Woodlawn, serving delicious food with variety to please every palate. Salads are lightly dressed and not too large. Entrees offered include seafood, poultry, meat, pastas, pizzas and some curry-spiced dishes. There are always two or three specials offered on the blackboard over and... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
