This place was recommended by our hotel Receptionist as 'his favourite restaurant and by far the best steakhouse in Toronto' and it did not disappoint!! The steaks were amazing and cooked to perfection!! We went for my husbands birthday and they were very accommodating placing a birthday candle on his banana split. The service is brilliant, we asked to move... More

I have been coming to Barbarian's forever. I have been here as a wide eyed bushy tailed kid at his first steak house. I have been here as poor university student who saved up enough to take a special girl for a night out. I was the young and hungry junior salesperson tagging along with his boss and a customer.... I have been here for lunch. Dinner. I wish it was open for breakfast... ok, I went too far. Their steaks are old school amazing. I always order the jumbo shrimp cocktail. Giant steak and baked potato. Service is old school perfect and the steak is ALWAYS cooked perfectly. One of my faves.

The meal was great and the service was very good. The rating should really be about me - I should have checked this out with Trip Advisor. This restaurant was recommended by someone on our walking tour and the desk attendant at our hotel and the steak was great but everything from the bottled water to the steak was way... More

A charming setting for an intimate superb meal. The various small rooms were chock full of antiques. Be sure to check out the cavernous wine cellar. The wine list was like a phone book! So many choices. Confuse as to what to get? Ask the wine steward / sommelier for helpful suggestions. BTW, there are some great local wineries not... More

This restaurant continues to be excellent. Service is relaxed and timely. The steaks that we had were delicious, well charred and tender--have the smaller one unless you are very hungry or are going to share. The wheat beer on draft was very good and the wine list is extensive.

It started with the Cab drivers, "If you are looking for the best Steak in Toronto, you have to try Barberian's." The best advise I ever took! From the Owner meeting you at the door and truly being interested in getting to know you, to the very efficient and friendly staff, the whole experience was amazing. I have been to... More

I had salmon but it was maybe the best I've ever had. Wasn't in mood for need bit the myriad of choices were incredible. Great, huge sides, impeccable service, a real experience.

We took the Chateaubriand and it was the best steak we got on our honeymoon! Possible the best steak and steakhouse in all of Canada, at least on Toronto!

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
