If you are looking for good Greek food, this could be the place for you. I took my mother for lunch here and we split a village salad and a souvlaki (pork) lunch special. The portions were large, prices reasonable, food tasted great and our waiter (Stratos) was exceptional.

There may be lots of Greek restaurants on the Danforth in Toronto but Asteria is absolutely the best and most reliable place for great chicken souvlaki and Gyros. It is inexpensive and unpretentious and old-fashioned but it is simply the best. Everything is made fresh to order and the value is incredible.

Went to the Taste of the Danforth last night and bought two gyros, lamb & beef and chicken, was charged $14. Only today do I discover that all the dishes at Taste of the Danforth are not supposed to be over $5. On top of that the gyros were absolutely nothing special; they have a sign saying 'Famous Gyros' -... More

My heritage is Greek so I was excited to see the reviews. What a huge disappointment! We arrived about 9:30PM. The owner/manager? Was standing at the door and invited us in. I was a little nervous that the place was empty, but figured it was late. We asked about the house wine and the server had no clue. The, let's... More

My cousin took us here on a night out. He said ignore the fact that it didn't look much. The clue is that some elderly Greek men were eating there. The meal and friendly service were outstanding. The meal I had, Chicken Souvlaki looked massive and a tad heavy going I thought but it was delicious, lots of flavour and... More

Great ambience! Wonderful, friendly staff, food is delicious and no one makes a pork souvlaki like they do! I will stay loyal to their restaurant just for the pork and tzatziki...omg soooo good.

This is must try if you are looking for authentic Greek food at a great price. This is small family run restaurant in the heart of the Danforth. They have great food, even better prices. Try this if you are in the area! Do not let appearances scare you.

Living on the Danforth, we eat out a lot. Today it was lunch at Asteria. They have a large takeout counter, but we chose to eat in. There are perhaps 10 tables for 4. We each had a beautiful chicken souvlaki on a pita. FRESH ingredients. Lots of tomatoes and tzatziki as well. It was a filling lunch and the... More

This little hole on the wall serves up the best Greek food in Toronto. Nothing pretentious, just good, delicious authentic noms. Nice owners, too!

Staying in East End

Neighborhood Profile
East End
The East End is an eclectic amalgamation of areas that team up to make this district one of the most multi-faceted and alluring. Home to Toronto's LGBT community hub, Gay Village is alive and pumping day or night with friendly bars, nightclubs, and cafes – its thumb is on the pulse of excitement. For a more relaxed day, the East End has the largest collection of restored Victorian homes, and its stately streets, tree-lined and bursting at the seams with affluence, often sport farmers markets and street artists, epitomized by the effusive St. Lawrence Market. One of the most gorgeous of Toronto's neighborhoods, it also straddles Lake Ontario in an area called The Beach, where you'll find folks cycling and strolling along the sandy shorelines, getting some sun or enjoying shopping, dining, and pub options. For some fabulous food, the vivacious personalities running the restaurants in the East End's Greektown is only equaled by the fun and authenticity of the street stalls and restaurants at its expansive Indian Bazaar. 'Something for everyone' has never been so accurate.
