This is a successful spot in a great location. It has on of Toronto's loveliest patios out back and a huge beer and wine list. But other than that I have no idea why anyone would go there. I hate writing bad reviews online but if I can help others avoid the delayed, cold welcome, lackluster service and disappointing food,... More

Visited Allen's with some friends before a show and the Danforth Music Hall. The place was really busy for a Monday (perhaps because of the show, as the Hall is right next door). We were seated promptly and our server was as attentive as she could be, given how many tables she was looking after. I ordered the lobster roll... More

Went there after an Irish music session at Dora Keogh's, their sister pub next door. Food is fantastic. Not cheap, but tastes amazing. Service is very good. Owner is very accommodating re seating at both venues. (We needed wheelchair access). Accessible bathroom on same floor at Dora Keogh's next door. At Allen's it's down a flight of stairs. We had... Enjoyed nice meal on back patio. All 3 of us had grilled items: rack of lamb, veges, baby back ribs. Food was good. Beer selection is excellent. Not 5 star as they forgot one appetizer we ordered (which we did not need!)

Allen's has one of the best outdoor patios in Toronto. Wonderful setting with mature trees. Perfect for a nice summer evening or afternoon. Good menu with a nice selection of comfort foods and burgers. Extensive beer list (written on the blackboard on the patio wall).

I have been to Allen's many times over the years. It's one of our go to spots in the city. They have the best burger in Toronto in my opinion. The backyard patio is like an oasis in the city. You don't feel like you're on a busy street, but rather a quiet backyard. The staff are consistently friendly and... More

This is a very happening restaurant, although you'd never know it from the outside. It's one of our very favourite places to have our cousins dinner, as they can accommodate a relatively large group of us. Our choice during good weather is to gather out on their back patio, under the shade of the large trees, and we are always... More

The waitstaff was very sweet and polite. Our waitress was a very kind and professional woman. The burger was very tasty, but alone. The usual way to serve a burger is with some kind of side, such as fries, baked potato or greens. Paying $16 I kind of expected a little more. The wife also received a hair baked into... More

Allen's was a great experience. The Music Hall is next door and Allen's is sweet. I had no reservation but our host put me and guests on a waiting list. She was very kind and viola someone cancelled. We had a BBQ menu of chicken, fish and liver, all homemade and tasty. If you want a great place for family... More

This has long been one of my "go-to" places in Toronto. It has a very nice "Irish" pub-like atmosphere, with good food and an extensive menu. Periodically, they host live music which makes for an extra-special occasion. During the summer months, the outside patio (at the back of the restaurant) is a lovely place to dine and sit or to... Staying in East End

Neighborhood Profile
East End
The East End is an eclectic amalgamation of areas that team up to make this district one of the most multi-faceted and alluring. Home to Toronto's LGBT community hub, Gay Village is alive and pumping day or night with friendly bars, nightclubs, and cafes – its thumb is on the pulse of excitement. For a more relaxed day, the East End has the largest collection of restored Victorian homes, and its stately streets, tree-lined and bursting at the seams with affluence, often sport farmers markets and street artists, epitomized by the effusive St. Lawrence Market. One of the most gorgeous of Toronto's neighborhoods, it also straddles Lake Ontario in an area called The Beach, where you'll find folks cycling and strolling along the sandy shorelines, getting some sun or enjoying shopping, dining, and pub options. For some fabulous food, the vivacious personalities running the restaurants in the East End's Greektown is only equaled by the fun and authenticity of the street stalls and restaurants at its expansive Indian Bazaar. 'Something for everyone' has never been so accurate.
