The waitstaff was very sweet and polite. Our waitress was a very kind and professional woman. The burger was very tasty, but alone. The usual way to serve a burger is with some kind of side, such as fries, baked potato or greens. Paying $16 I kind of expected a little more. The wife also received a hair baked into... More

Allen's was a great experience. The Music Hall is next door and Allen's is sweet. I had no reservation but our host put me and guests on a waiting list. She was very kind and viola someone cancelled. We had a BBQ menu of chicken, fish and liver, all homemade and tasty. If you want a great place for family... More

This has long been one of my "go-to" places in Toronto. It has a very nice "Irish" pub-like atmosphere, with good food and an extensive menu. Periodically, they host live music which makes for an extra-special occasion. During the summer months, the outside patio (at the back of the restaurant) is a lovely place to dine and sit or to... I have been to Allen's many times and enjoyed the patio and food. Service has usually been pleasant and helpful, but not this time. Four of us sat a table on the patio for drinks and snacks at about 9:30. Restaurant was half full - so not that busy. Our server was rude, abrupt and turned on his heel and... More

We stopped by tonight for drinks - 4 professional women who were out to see a play earlier this evening. We got a table on the back patio and we're dealing with an older male waiter. The restaurant was less than half full. He gave us menus and we asked what appetizer he would recommend for sharing. He ignored our... More

We dined on the patio at the restaurant which is always in high demand when the weather is nice. There is a natural canopy of mature trees that blankets part of the patio providing sufficient shade. The wait staff is very attentive to the customers, but I found the service a little slow at times, especially when the restaurant was... More

Lovely patio. Food pricey but good. Only a Canadian wine selection with prices ranging from $44 to about $75 per bottle ( ridiculous prices for Canadian) But what really was outrageous is that we were debating on ordering one of two bottles so we asked for samples. Both bottles were also sold by the glass so samples shouldn't have been... More

First time at Allens before a show at Danforth Music Hall. A friend recommended and booked reservations. Awesome food - ceasar salad was so good and the pizza was excellent. Danforth Music Hall was almost right next door. It was perfect and the service was really good too.

We came into town to watch a concert and a friend brought us to Allen's for supper before. We were unaware of the steak festival, but very happy with the timing. We all praise the steaks, some of the best I have ever eaten! I year later, I'm still thinking about it! We're trying to find an excuse to get... More

Staying in East End

Neighborhood Profile
East End
The East End is an eclectic amalgamation of areas that team up to make this district one of the most multi-faceted and alluring. Home to Toronto's LGBT community hub, Gay Village is alive and pumping day or night with friendly bars, nightclubs, and cafes – its thumb is on the pulse of excitement. For a more relaxed day, the East End has the largest collection of restored Victorian homes, and its stately streets, tree-lined and bursting at the seams with affluence, often sport farmers markets and street artists, epitomized by the effusive St. Lawrence Market. One of the most gorgeous of Toronto's neighborhoods, it also straddles Lake Ontario in an area called The Beach, where you'll find folks cycling and strolling along the sandy shorelines, getting some sun or enjoying shopping, dining, and pub options. For some fabulous food, the vivacious personalities running the restaurants in the East End's Greektown is only equaled by the fun and authenticity of the street stalls and restaurants at its expansive Indian Bazaar. 'Something for everyone' has never been so accurate.
