Visited Lalibela last week-end (November 11, 2016). The food is very good and imparts traditional Ethiopian flavor. I wish I could say the same about the service! The service is exceptionally poor and the waits are too long even to take the first drink order. The food sort of overcame this negativitiy.

We came here because our absolute favourite Ethiopian restaurant down the street, Nazareth, was closed. We decided to give this place a shot! Everything was great until a massive cockroach showed up. We were mortified at first when we saw it run past our table on the wall we were sitting against. Then we realized it's still summer so maybe... More

I loved going to this place during my time in Toronto. The staff are very friendly and the food is mouth-watering. Everything I have tried here was simply delicious. If you haven't tried Ethiopian food before, I suggest you order a large platter with a combination of meat, veggies and lentils. At the end of the meal, don't forget to... More

I love this place. Been coming here for over 10 years and the only sad thing is that based on my last visit there seem to be more non-Ethiopians eating here (used to be the Ethiopians were the vast majority). The value remains outstanding.

Really delicious Ethiopian food. The service was friendly, food and drinks delicious – great place to stop in for food. We ordered the mixed platter, which allowed us to sample a few dishes, and you get extra injera to eat it with as well as the one it is served on. Will be back if we’re ever back in Toronto!

Came here with a groupon so that was a very good deal. Ordered #45 - mixed meat and veg platter enough for 2. We were very full, and got to try a bit of everything. We also ordered the coffee which was good to try once. They burned frankincense while serving the coffee which was quite strong and tasty and... More

We really enjoyed our lunch. We ordered the mixed platter for 2. There was loads of food, which was great and is a true ethiopian food experience. The service was good and resturant is nice and comfortable.

Often filled with Ethiopian diaspora this restaurant provides real Ethiopian food at reasonable prices. The lalibela platter is a combination of stewed meats and veggies that you mop up with injera - a type of pancake-like bread. Yummy !

The vegetarian platter was enough for two people and included a combination of splint peas, lentils, chick peas, cabbage, collard greens, vegetables, and hilbet (mixer of beans, garlic, ginger, and fenugreek). The kitfo was also served in the vegetarian platter. We were also given a plate of injera (it was folded up and warm). To eat it, you tear off... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
