An old style diner. Pleasant staff, a bit hot inside with an acceptable breakfast. Eggs and sausage with home fries. Reasonable and quick service. Not a bad choice.

Visited for quick breakfast and it immediately became our regular. Nice simple food in huge portions and a continuous supply of coffee from friendly waiter. Great start to any day.

My family and I stopped here for breakfast during our first day in Toronto . We walked by the restaurant which was close to our hotel and were very intrigued by the price . You could get a full breakfast with coffee or juice included for only $6.99 . Upon arrival we were greeted in a friendly manner (by the... More

Standard diner food. Fish and chips were underwhelming...frozen fries were not cooked enough, chicken stir fry special was decent. Salads were fresh and tasty. Good service but food not good enough for a second visit.

We stopped in for breakfast. Was told the grill was broken, sadly I watched an employee grill his food he left with. The service was average. It looks like a hole in the wall but the food was very good. That's the only reason for the high score.

One of the few remaining of a traditional Canadian 'Diner' style cafes. One of the best breakfasts we have had in Toronto. Don't be put off by the steps down to the diner where you watch the legs go by. Prices are reasonable and food is plentiful whenever we have been here. (We live a few blocks away). Best club... Always a reliable breakfast and have eaten here a number of times now that we have a place nearby. Old school charm and seasoned waiters. Great value and good plain grub. Will return again and again as it never changes and is such a comfortable place to eat.

We wanted to go for breakfast since our Inn didn't have food service. I looked on the web for breakfast places nearby and came up with the Golden Griddle on Carlton St. I parked my car a couple blocks up and walked down to the restaurant, as I crossed the street I remembered the name had Golden in it but... Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
