Supper at Fionn Maccool's at Pearson. Cheerful place opposite gate B40. The menu at this faux Irish venue is limited even for standard pub fare, but the food is very good. Any of the char-broiled burgers, fish and chips and the Guinness steak pie are outstanding. Service was friendly but quite slow, so don't pop in here to eat with... More

This restaurant specializes in Shepherd Pies, and other meat pies, along with a decent offering of craft beers. It had a nice Irish Pub interior, but a smaller, quieter sidewalk section on the Esplanade, than several of the other nearby establishments. I preferred the Beef & Guiness Pie, which was very tasty, over their Chicken and Vegetable pie. They had... More

I ate here back in December 2015. A few of us were at the Distillery District and need to find a place to eat. Great choice. Really good food and atmosphere.

Was with clients yesterday... Ordered another round... Without prompting was told it was going to take awhile!!!! Why tell us. Serve it up. So we asked for our check and were treated rudely. I get your busy.... But have some staff! Love other Finns but I am Done. Terrible in front of clients... Made for an awkward night...

Good food. Friendly waitress. If it wasn't labeled irish I wouldn't have known it was an irish pub. But close to the Rodgers centre and the cn tower.

My wife and I had dinner on a Friday night and the place was not very busy. The server seemed to favour another table over ours which included our appetizer arriving cold. We both ordered one of their signature pies which was far from being special or being a highlight of the menu. Our meals did not taste fresh nor... More

Fionn MacCool's is always good. Last time I was there had the lamb shank and it was delicious. The waitresses are always on the ball and the drinks are perfect. Can argue with anything there. Love sitting out on the patio in the summer and enjoying the people watching and catching a few rays.

I had a pretty good experience at this pub. We went on a Friday night and the service was good, fast and friendly. The music and decor were not particularly Irish, but that didn't bother me. We went for the bacon shrimp donuts, which were actually really good! I would go back just for that appetizer.

We have been to this pub a couple of times and think it has the worst service ever. The waitresses tend to be lazy, grumpy and/or rude. Service is quite slow. Some of them don't seem to care how they look - thrashy must be in. They put Tilted Kilt to shame. Whoever hires the staff should honestly have better... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
