We met two friends for a casual lunch at this well known downtown Toronto spot -- noted for being very much a place for "suits." Initially the service wasn't bad. But things went awry between our appetizers and main courses, and either the kitchen staff had fallen asleep or had gone out somewhere. Our server paid no attention to the... More

So I always have a weird opinion on these fixed menus. Like all inclusive a la carts. I feel if they are only making about 10 total items, that it should all be perfect always. Came here with my girlfriend so we shared all our meal portions. The watermelon soup appetizer was gross unless u like that sort of thing.... More

Was pleasantly surprised. Great friendly, efficient knowledgable service. Very good food beautifully presented. There were 3 of us: Appetizers were red pepper soup; shrimp tacos; tuna sashimi. All delicious. Mains: Turkey brie sandwich and my husband and I shared the Bymark burger since it is quite large for one person at lunch. We were surprised when our server brought our... More

I ate dinner here (at the below ground restaurant) with a friend on a weeknight. The restaurant is in an attractive, modern space. Our waiter was attentive without being obsequious. The food is very artfully presented and comes in smallish portions. The food itself, was tasty, but not spectacular. The cost seemed out of proportion to what we had ($83... More

I've been to at least 75% of the Oliver Bonannacini restaurants in Toronto and I find them so so or hit and miss. Bymark, one of the oldest ones is a good choice when stuck in the middle of the financial district, especially in the summer when enjoying the patio (behind the buidling away from Bay and Wellington traffic.) As... More

I recently enjoyed lunch at Bymark with a business associate of mine . A nice sunny , warm day on a patio with a glass of wine - hard to not enjoy ourselves . A big plus was the food and service . Both excellent . Our server , Ben , was very attentive and helpful . The food -... More

Had a function in the downtown area on the weekend and decided to give Bymark another shot. Glad we did. The outside patio is quite great. A rose amongst the steel and concrete thorns. Far cry from the downstairs crypt that I first dined in. service was even better this time….Shamus was quite engaging and knowledgeable. The wine list has... More

Great food that appeals to all tastes. Going with colleagues here is great because the service is friendly and professional and is typically quite understanding of what professionals look for in a business lunch. The pricing is somewhat high for lunch in the area but the quality aligns with the price. In addition to their below ground restaurant, they have... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
