We had dinner at this location the evening we were in Toronto and then the next day took the family to lunch there as well. Love the atmosphere. Very nice restaurant. Great staff, friendly and helpful. I had the Arancini and my husband had the rigatoni bolognese… really tasty. Sauce was very authentic Italian. The next day we all had... More

We had a wonderful dinner at Trattoria Mercatto tonight. Our waiter was wonderful. He helped me order my shrimp dinner that wasn't even on the menu. Every one at my table ordered different dinners and every one was excellent. I recommend eating here while shopping in the Eaton Centre, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The food and atmosphere are good. We have been there a few times. It is fairly busy restaurant in the Eton Center. But the service stinks. When we complained about the service they did not even have the decency to say sorry.

Walking back to the hotel, I met up with some friends at the Eaton Center. The mall is huge! Many different levels. Since I had some churros during the movie, I was hungry for something a little more. We didn't want to do food court food, but this restaurant was inside the mall, so why not. I ordered the beet... Very nice Italian dishes, pizza is their specialty. Service was quick and "perky". Outdoor seating, which is a plus in summertime. Now for hidden remark,, entrance from inside Eaton Center is hidden behind an escalator, difficult to see restaurant sign. However, easily seen from outdoors.

Atmosphere is very good. We had them move us upstairs because the door leading to the patio automatically locks and had to remain propped open - bringing a cool breeze. The management was most obliging. Value for money? Yes when compared to other Toronto restaurants which typically have overpriced junk. This isn't my first time here. My spouse and I... More

This Italian restaurant is a welcome change from the usual food court you encounter in shopping centers. The Pizza's are quite good and its a pleasant place to pause for Lunch while shopping.

We had our lunch here with a group of friends and we enjoyed the food. We had the calamari for appetizer and it was good. We ordered Pizza for main dish, we really enjoy the thin crunchy crust vegetarian pizza. Location is perfect for people who love shopping and walking around downtown. This is right beside Nordstrom and inside Eaton... More

Stopped in for lunch and had the pizza of the day. It was delicious! Tasted like pizza in Roma. I'd go back, for sure!

At first glance the Trattoria Mercatto looks like a high end restaurant. The menu is very limited and extremely overpriced. You have to ask for bread with your order. Yes it's free if they have it. This time they didn't have any available. We ordered 2 items. The pizza was burnt and the veal parm sandwich was no bigger then... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
