Brought 3 kids to eat on their own because they wanted a great teen-agers dining experience so we waited for them to order their food and left them. When I went back they were just getting their food. One got pizza and it was okay, good sized, but the other two got the spaghetti and in the bowl was not... More

Have been here a few times and the pizza has never let me down! Was so nice to taste a real Italian pizza after living in Europe for a long time!!

Went here for a meal with Canadian family. Service was good, very busy lunchtime but the food was appalling. Bland bland bland! Waiter asked if the food was ok and I politely said "no, it's very bland". Nothing was done about it but to offer some seasoning (why ask if you are not bothered?). Would definitely NOT recommend eating here.

I took my granddaughter here for her birthday last week. The food was incredible. Rather small portions, but filled me up just the same. Was somewhat disappointed with the expensive wine selection. I wanted a glass of house red wine, and the cheapest wine on the list was $12 a glass. I was also disappointed that I had ordered a... More

Ate here twice whilst we were in Toronto. It is a lovely Italian Restaurant with excellent food at a reasonable cost. Staff very attentive, efficient and friendly. It had a good and varied menu. I can recommend the mushroom risotto.

A hidden find within the the hectic mayhem of the Eaton Centre Mall. We enjoyed the grilled octopus, tender and so flavourful along with a Prosciutto pizza just like Italy! Exceptional service by the whole staff that worked in unison with Alex being especially attentive. I would definitely return. The plates of pasta that past us smelled soooo good.

The Trattoria Mercatto was surprisingly nice and the patio seating was impressive, especially considering its location inside the Eaton Centre. The food was as good as I had expected; the portion sizes were appropriate and not too large like at many other Italian restaurants. We enjoyed the pizzas as well as the octopus appetizer. The only downside was that the... More

The Trattoria Mercatto is well located, the Eaton Centre, and when the weather is pleasant, there is an outdoor patio. This is a typical trattoria, with pizzas, salads, sandwiches and other goodies. The service is professional and friendly, it's a nice place to meet and eat!

Excellent place for lunch while shopping at Eaton Centre, Downtown, Toronto. They serve freshly made thin pizzas and pastas, besides delicious desserts.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
