How can the kitchen send out cold fries that LOOK cold too?! The chicken was cold and the pasta was half cold and half lukewarm. The manager does not even present himself to issues! Coward! Worst location to go to. Gives Swiss Chalet a bad rep.

We have been regular customers for almost 60 years. The first restaurant was on Bloor St West in Toronto. We celebrated all birthday celebrations there because we were so happy with the food. Things have changed so much but we continue to eat there on a regular basis. Service and meals are always perfect. Always consistent and good!

Picked up a BBQ chicken family pack omeal and when I got home, some of the chicken was not fully cooked and had blood red juices flowing when cut. I phoned and complained. On the phone the manager offered to give me a new chicken and some free pieces of pie. I went back with the uncooked chicken. Now dealing... More

We go to Swiss on a regular basis. It began when my dads friend opened the first one in Toronto. You could call it our comfort zone. The food is consistently good. You always know what you're getting. Always something new for you to try. Me.... always a quarter white with well done fries. The best!

Was looking for a place to have our anniversary get away dinner and after much looking around we decided to go with the restaurant we knew and trusted. We were not disappointed. The food was hot, tasty and awesome as always, the server was pleasant, attentive and we would certainly return there if we were in the area again.

On a Saturday night, this location was quite empty. The service was very good, but the restaurant could use a refresh.

Been at this location for a long time and a favorite of the local folk, however, the menu can be dull, as there is really nothing new at this franchise chain! I feel the meals are over-rated and a little too expensive for the meals they have to offer. Yes, the chicken taste good but I'd rather have chicken at... More

The service was ok but the food was bad. The chicken was good, but I was served rotten tomatoes on my sandwich. The fish was burned to a crisp and tasted of old oil. The fries were unsalted, oily and soggy. A bad combination. Have eaten at other swiss chalets but my group agrees this one was not up to... More

Since our doors first opened in 1954, Canadian families have been coming back to Swiss Chalet generation after generation. Our rotisserie ovens only accept fresh (never frozen), grain-fed, Canadian Grade A chickens, because quality is all we know. So what will it be? A Quarter Chicken with fries?

Staying in East York

Neighborhood Profile
East York
East York includes a portion of old, industrial Toronto. Densely populated but incredibly safe, it boasts some of the city's earliest gardens and gardening clubs, attracting green thumbs everywhere. The tranquility of the Don Valley River area, which is rich with Toronto's oldest and tallest forests, is supplemented by the large ensemble of authentic and refurbished Edwardian homes, giving parts of East York allure. The other draw is for foodies: lovers of Bangladeshi fare will find authentic restaurants and markets in the area, with raw spices and desserts. East York also represents a lot of Toronto's Serbian food culture, and recently, has had an outcropping of solid microbrewery stops. For families, the science center is a favored weekend stop.
