I went for a business meeting on Sunday afternoon. The place was busy. Service was good but the food is not the same anymore. The quality of food has gone lower and the place looks beaten up now. The menu has changed a lot and is boring now.

Just below King St on Portland, Bar Buca is a trendy, sophisticated cafe-cum-snack spot, surprisingly open till 2 am every day. Although a cafe style, they provide table service even for just coffee. Limited menu, but the open kitchen concept with an open seating plan is surprisingly cosy

Whether it's for my daily americano, my weekly Thursday or Friday night date with a girlfriend or weekend brunch, the food, drinks and atmosphere never disappoint. The staff are friendly and warm and take pride in what they do.

The smelts were awesome. We always seek out smelts at Italian places because the are rare to find. Pricey wine by the glass. Concerned about the storage of the wine above the kitchen area

Wow! Brilliant concept with the food being delicious and very original. The staff here are great and totally committed to giving the best experience with both a passion for the food and offering a great experience for their clientele. A real Gem and must visit when in Toronto. We can't wait to eat and drink here again

We were finishing off the trifecta of all the Buca locations with lunch at this location. We sat at the bar because we enjoy watching the activity in the kitchen. We shared a starter and the veal 'sandwich'. Topped it off with a great glass of wine recommended by our server and we were delighted we made the effort to... More

we stopped in for coffee, great Americano strong not bitter, excellent. Chatted with the staff while we were there and discovered they have a great selection of bitters some bought, but many in house made, this would be an ideal bar/cafe if you wanted an old fashion or a bourbon with a little extra zest. Definitely worth another visit.

We looked forward to going to the Yorkville Bar Buca for yummy fish. That was the rumour. Quite simply, the waiter was fabulous, the menu sounded creative and promising and the presentation of the food was lovely. The food itself...completely tasteless. Th crudo was bland and my guest's salad was less than memorable. But, the real disappointment were the entrees.... More

Bar Buca was right around the corner from my old apartment. I would often frequent this place when I was running out for a quick coffee but couldn't be gone long. They make delicious cappuccinos and morning sweet pastries, have really friendly bar tenders/baristas and provide a very enjoyable to go experience. The breakfast sandwiches are very delicious although aren't... More

We really enjoyed tasting a repertoire of delicious small plates during our visit. Nice wine selection as well. My only criticism is that it's quite noisy and difficult to carry on a quiet conversation. Great place to go if you just want to eat and drink in an upbeat ambiance and can forego the conversation for awhile.

Description
Buca Osteria Enoteca is an Italian restaurant from the King Street Food Company (Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse and The Saint Tavern). The menu aims to combine the ingredient specificity of rustic Italian cuisine with the culinary finesse of fine dining, building recipes around fresh and seasonal produce, but using a number of classical culinary techniques as well. The beautiful and understated main dining room has soaring high ceilings, exposed raw brick, and iron beams - using the natural elements of the heritage building. Towards the back, beyond the open curing room, a smaller wine bar, the Enoteca, is sleek and private.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
