Went to celebrate my wedding anniversary today and left very disappointed. Given the reputation of the chef and his restaurants I was expecting impeccable service and food. The service left much to be desired, our food took nearly an hour to be served to us although numerous tables that were seated after us got their food before us and they... More

Don't come here if you are looking for a quick lunch. Love BUCA restaurant so thought we'd try BAR BUCA for lunch having heard about killer stuffed focaccia sandwiches. We arrived shortly before noon to a somewhat empty patio - 3 other tables of the approx. 10 were occupied and restaurant inside was pretty empty except for 1 table. I... More

Excellent, innovative Italian small plates and sandwiches. As others have mentioned the service is friendly and attentive, noisy and lively ambiance. It's open all day and evening making it a great place to drop in for late lunch or dinner. Highly recommended.

Super friendly service. We arrived a tad bit late for lunch, but our waiter managed to get all our orders in before the kitchen closed. Everyone loved their apps and sandwiches. Great portion vs price, it'll even more than likely be too much food. Definitely check it out! For a small bistro-ish place, its excellent!

My sister and mom raved about the Bar Buca & the sandwich here. One late afternoon, we were in the area so they dragged me in to baptize me. We ordered the pork schiacciata and the roasted vegetable one. I cannot ever imagined a sandwich tasting this good - and yes, this is better than the back bacon sandwich at... More

We went because Bar Buca is #1 on Joanne Kates' list of the best spend-a-little restos in Toronto. Tall bar stools are not my favourite, but they were better than those at Alo. The lunch menu is quite restrictive, so not all the dishes recommended by Kates were available. The pork schiacciata lived up to its reputation even though it... More

We left our party at 11:30, still not having had dinner. My friend searched for a restaurant that was still open and Bar Buca showed up on the screen. What a serious find! This is one of the best restaurants I have been to all year. The food was truly exceptional and the waitstaff was wonderfully attentive. We drank good... More

... as it was a snooty looking place with two types of beer and lots of pretentious looking 20somethings. Was stupid. Had a Gin and tonic and fantastic albacore and artichokes with fennel. Fun to watch care of chefs as I sat at bar.

The good: - The food was incredible. - The service was quick and friendly - Very accommodating staff. We got a table for 6 on a Saturday night at around 8:30pm. The bad: - Table with the stools was a bit cramped for 6 people sharing dishes but the food definitely made up for this. Do yourself a favour and... More

Description
Buca Osteria Enoteca is an Italian restaurant from the King Street Food Company (Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse and The Saint Tavern). The menu aims to combine the ingredient specificity of rustic Italian cuisine with the culinary finesse of fine dining, building recipes around fresh and seasonal produce, but using a number of classical culinary techniques as well. The beautiful and understated main dining room has soaring high ceilings, exposed raw brick, and iron beams - using the natural elements of the heritage building. Towards the back, beyond the open curing room, a smaller wine bar, the Enoteca, is sleek and private.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
