Feels so bad to find a place that has nice staff, a Classic menu, but horrible execution. I wanted so much to like this place... they have a great location and a menu that reads like Italy without jet lag. But: ice cold carpaccio, fatty bits, no dressing and tasteless as a result. It is actually very hard to execute... More

Very good food and pleasant service. The seafood linguini special was delicious. We'll be back yet again.

Had feeling server didn't know the menu well and in spite of his advanced age was relatively new. Nice enough overall service but no need to come back ever. Food just average

I booked the wrong restaurant for a family dinner. I realized my mistake as soon as we got to the restaurant. But we were there and game to try something new. The restaurant decor was tired but we were taken to our table immediately. Tables are small and crowded into a small space. The waiters all look like they have... More

I like Italian food but I found Verdi to be boring... the atmosphere and the food. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great, not much flavour and presentation. I also found the price to be high for what we got.

Almost a four but this is not my favorite type of Italian restaurant. Food is good, but solidly stuck in the pass North American - Italian mode. If that is what you like then this is certainly a four.

Comfortable restaurant which wasn't busy the night we went. Everything went fairly quickly, seating, service, arrival of drinks and food. Veal dishes were quite good. Espresso not so great. Otherwise recommended.

This is our goto spot for late night pizza (after curling). Nice thin crust with a little char around the edges from the wood fire. I generally rotate my order between 3 or 4 of the menu pizzas. We recently returned for the first time since spring and the pizza was great.

We were attending a funeral in Toronto. After the wake we wandered around Bayview Avenue looking for a place to have dinner. We came upon Verdi. It was like entering a local family restaurant and that it is. The restaurant has a low key but comfortable vibe. There were several choices on the menu. They do specialize in wood burning... More

One of my favorite spots for a Wood Oven Pizza, many varieties and all good. Simple, fast and tasty. Old fashioned service, friendly waiters that don't introduce themselves, and quick! I visit about once a month... A large menu although I generally keep to pizza, salad and an appetizer (the calamari is fresh, not breaded, and the sauce is tasty).Tried... More

Staying in East York

Neighborhood Profile
East York
East York includes a portion of old, industrial Toronto. Densely populated but incredibly safe, it boasts some of the city's earliest gardens and gardening clubs, attracting green thumbs everywhere. The tranquility of the Don Valley River area, which is rich with Toronto's oldest and tallest forests, is supplemented by the large ensemble of authentic and refurbished Edwardian homes, giving parts of East York allure. The other draw is for foodies: lovers of Bangladeshi fare will find authentic restaurants and markets in the area, with raw spices and desserts. East York also represents a lot of Toronto's Serbian food culture, and recently, has had an outcropping of solid microbrewery stops. For families, the science center is a favored weekend stop.
