I read an article in the Toronto Star on Toronto's best curries and this restaurant was one of the places mentioned. Finally I made it to Gourmet Malaysia! I took my husband and daughter for a late Friday night dinner. We were greeted by a young man named Yummy. His jokes made us laugh while we waited for our table.... More

We decided to visit this restaurant for the first time. The restaurant is very spacious and can accomodate huge crowd. The staff were very polite and really really quick. we ordered Nasi goreng, salt fish and chicken fried rice, Tom Yam seafood soup, fried squid with chilli, fried fish with chilli and my outermost favourite Nasi lemak. The portions of... More

Came here on the recommendation of a friend. Ordered the Tahu Goreng, Assam Laksa, Singapore Laksa, Rojak, and the Wat Tan Hor. The taste really reminds me of being in Singapore/Malaysia. Of all the places I've been to for Malaysian food, this place was by far the best. The Char Kway Teow wasn't as good as others I've had, but... More

I was taken to the restaurant as once of the best malaysian restaurant in Toronto. If this is the best, then it is not a great supporter of True Malaysian cuisine. Malaysian cuisine has its roots in the kitchen of the 'nonyas'. It's uniqueness is that it drew the best from fresh spices. This a find lacking in this restaurant.... More

Says who? Me, a Malaysian. Some of the items are indeed so so, and some items are getting too expensive. I would recommend ordering more dishes/items to share so that you can try out a bit of everything.

Food was not bad, a tad bit overpriced for its quality though. I liked the paging system at the table, where u can press the button for service, & the response time was pretty quick. I will likely go back again sometime.

Being a Singaporean, I do miss local Singaporean dishes, went to try out this restaurant out of curiosity since my husband and I were in the vicinity. I ordered the Hainanese chicken rice and my husband had nasi lemak. I was shocked to see the Hainanese chicken skin to be too yellow in color. The taste was not that "wow",... More

I tried the vegetarian chicken dishes and really enjoyed them. The green curry with chicken flavored tofu is recommended. The ambience is off putting to put it mildly. If you are in a group it doesn't work cos the only have round tables. Service is not great but works. Overall a nice cullenary experience and would like to visit again.

Friends took us to this restaurant for dinner. The portion size for the Malaysian dishes we ordered were huge ( compared to what we get in the UK). Except for my OH and my friend's son, we couldn't finish our food. I had the Laksa which was what I expected. The Roti canai which was shared among all of us... More

We were 4 of us and were happy having chosen this restaurant. The good was super, quantity excellent, quality exemplary. Most dishes approx 10 dollars Canadian and 3 dishes are enough for 4 persons. Lovely experience definitely worth a revisit.

Staying in Scarborough

Neighborhood Profile
Situated astride Lake Ontario, Scarborough is a district heavily influenced by immigration. With a number of low-rent shopping and dining options making it a highly affordable part of town, and boasting one of Toronto's largest shopping malls, the otherwise green suburban neighborhood is a good place to go for bargains and discounts. It also draws in photographers. The spires, archways, and cavernous rooms of the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Palace are filled with breathtaking art, architecture, and detailed reliefs – it’s like entering a different world, The ruins of columns and installation art at the Guild Inn makes a free-for-all exploration site, while the big-name draw for young photographers is the menagerie at the Toronto Zoo. While many visitors shirk Scarborough as too suburban, its houses are some of Toronto's most mystical and haunting architectural beauties. And for adventure lovers, it has river-rafting and some unique hiking trails.
