This is not the best Greek in Toronto, but is very good as a downtown choice. The food was very good - arugula salad, shrimp saganaki, fisherman's stew and exohico were or choices tonight. Our server was efficient and attentive, but I didn't care for the tableside payment system. We sat near the cooking area and watched everyone (prep cook,... More

We came here based on the high trip advisor rating. Have eaten in many restaurants in the city and around the world I can tell you that this is not one of the best in the city. Don't get me wrong it's absolutely fine but just not amazing. I think if you want Greek restaurant which blows your socks off... More

I have enjoyed several fabulous dinners at Volos but recently learned they are also open for lunch. I love this place for its warm yet formal feel. It definitely feels like you're treating yourself to fine dining but the staff is friendly and fun which was especially nice for a mid-day break! Great range of guests: Lots of business people... Went here just for lunch. Moussaka was not the best I've got in my life, but pretty good. Apart from the good, but not excellent Moussaka, everything was great. The place is pretty, waiters are polite and the menu is excellent. Good choice of Greek wines. Recommended. Planning to go again for dinner.

Great location, Great setting. Walked in and noticed where was the greek music, when asked they said we play it sometimes. Sat to place and order, we had a great server. Ordered Avgolemeno soup, famous egg/lemon soup, one look and after one bite confirmed it was NOT greek soup, it was a chicken soup. Placed and order of greek village... More

Our visit to Volos was surprisingly wonderful. We were immediately impressed with the intimacy and ambience of this rather large and casual space. There is an open kitchen and the tables are well spaced which makes for a warm and comfortable experience. Our server, Delia, was amazing. Her recommendations were excellent with the scallop suggestion being the best of all.... More

First of all, the place is beautiful. It is very inviting and has a chic, casual feel. I was so happy when they had Aperol Spritz as an apperitive as not many restaurants actually carry Aperol. I had the octopus as an appetizer and coudn't be more pleased. My main was the Sea Scallops. They were fantastic. My husband had... More

Have eaten there on a number of occasions as it is located within walking distance of large downtown hotels such as the Hilton and Sheraton. Never had what I consider true greek fare. The food is catered to the average Canadian palate. The menu lacks imagination, old style dishes include an ouzo flambe saganaki. Typical greek style salad but somewhat... More

Went there with colleagues on a Wednesday. Good selection of wines and real taste of greek food. Waiters were kind with us and promptly responding to our requests. Lamb shank highly recommended

My wife and I have been traveling across parts of Canada and got hungry for some Mediterranean cooking and decided to give Volos a try. We're glad we did. We started with the Greek meatballs, which were fantastic. A little cinnamon, a little cummin added to all meat meatballs, served with a light tomato sauce produced a winner of an... More

Fresh, healthy flavours and emphasis on beautiful presentation please both the appetite and eyes at Volos. Modern twists on traditional Greek dishes and Greek twists on local Canadian ingredients create a contemporary culinary experience rooted in authenticity. The restaurant sources the highest quality local produce, superior quality cuts of meat and the best fish, delivered daily. Like the menu, the interior plays with different Greek elements and motifs. Natural wood and stone combined with artful and ambient lighting lend a seductive and comfortable atmosphere. We invite you to enjoy the Volos experience. For groups larger than 8 guests, please call (416) 861-1211.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
