Coming from the region, I am very familiar with Mediterranean cuisine, Greek including. So maybe my expectations were too high but unfortunately I was very disappointed. I can't fault the service, as good as one would expect from a quality place but the food was lacking. Wine selection was limited and glaases were very overpriced. Food was very bland and... More

We shared three appetizers for the table—squid, octopus (each done differently), and sausages—that were wonderfully tasty and just the right size; the main courses—grilled whole sea bass, lamb shank, and riganato (veal tenderloin cutlets)—were at the same level of excellence; and the desert of not-too-sweet and nicely crusty baklava and figs with thick Greek yogurt rounded things off nicely. Our... More

Determined to eat Greek that night, we agreed to a 30 minute wait for a table – even on a Thursday night – and boy, were we glad we hung around. What a magnificent meal! Outstanding salads and fish, good Greek wines (reasonably priced), and engaging servers. The restaurant has a friendly and warm atmosphere, and there’s very little to... More

Business supper with 3 other co-workers. 2 of ordered the veal cutlets and 2 of us ordered the lamb. The food was great, the service was very good, a little to quick for me but totally understandable the place was jam pack and it was only Wednesday. Weekends must be crazy. We all ordered dessert and coffee, dessert menu has... More

The atmosphere was wonderful - and it was a quiet -- The service was very attentive - Dave - our server was personable and professional. He was able to recommend both food and wine selections that were well worthy of the recommendation. I had the Fisherman Stew... More

Very pleasant restaurant with a good greek menu. But I was disappointed by the food: I had the spicy sausages as a starter followed by the moussaka. Both were fine but were a bit bland and far from being the best I've tasted. Perhaps I was there on an off night.

What a great find. We were staying at the Hilton and found this excellent restaurant right next door. The food was superb. Best saganaki flaming cheese we've had since the Greek Islands. I had the Exohico which was a fantastic phyllo pastry covered braised lamb with feta and vegetables - delicious. The only reason I gave a 4 star rather... More

Service was excellent and the food was very good. There were surprises around every corner with little added touches on the plate that totally changed how you experienced the food

Fresh, healthy flavours and emphasis on beautiful presentation please both the appetite and eyes at Volos. Modern twists on traditional Greek dishes and Greek twists on local Canadian ingredients create a contemporary culinary experience rooted in authenticity. The restaurant sources the highest quality local produce, superior quality cuts of meat and the best fish, delivered daily. Like the menu, the interior plays with different Greek elements and motifs. Natural wood and stone combined with artful and ambient lighting lend a seductive and comfortable atmosphere. We invite you to enjoy the Volos experience. For groups larger than 8 guests, please call (416) 861-1211.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
