My husband and I stopped in around 3pm for a late lunch, and we're so glad we did. Since we were there between lunch and dinner, only a few other customers were there. The place has a big patio, but we chose to eat inside because of the heat. I loved the decor inside. Our waitress was very friendly and... More

While in Toronto earlier this month we stumbled upon the Blake House, this restaurant was pleasantly surprising! The atmosphere was very nice as it was an old mansion, the service was excellent and the food was very good! I really recommend the Mac and Cheese it was great!

Anyone who knows Toronto is aware that Jarvis Street was where many of the wealthy lived in the 19th century, and the Blake House is no exception...the former resident of this mansion gave his name to one of the City's major law firms. It is a beautifully preserved house which has become a neighbourhood favorite with locals who spend summer... More

Recently went to a friends birthday here, and I loved it. I drive by it daily and did not even know it was there. It looks like an older house set back with some trees, which is part of the attraction if you want to eat on the patio. The atmosphere is great for that. Staff were very friendly and... More

The front patio area is a nice airy space to sit in on a warm Toronto evening. Jarvis a Street is pretty quiet in the evening and the mature trees on the patio make a pleasant setting for your meal. The service by Rachel was efficient and friendly and the meals were enjoyed by all four of us - we... More

We wound up here by accident... it was actually a Pokémon Go stop so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant is lovely with a great patio out front. The service was good and quick. And the meal and drinks were well made.

Went here for after dinner drinks. Took a look at the menu just to see what they had.. everything looked great, but already had dinner. Had a Specialty coffee and the service was great. A perfect patio to people watch without it being too intrusive. Was there at night but I bet it's a great sunny patio during the day.... More

We were here on Pride weekend and although it was very busy (not surprising!) the service was great as was the food. We've been several times since, including a recent fundraising event for PWA. Jimmy and his brothers are always supportive of the community! We highly recommend The Blake House!

Eight of us gathered here to celebrate a 75th birthday. Service was excellent, prompt and friendly. We all partook of the summerlicious promotion with the $28 prix fixe. I started with the fish taco as an appitizer. A surprise delight containing fried Atlantic cod. Folowed with the main, grilled California striploin. Tasty and generous helping of rapini and mashed potatoes.... More

I attended my monthly book club on the lovely patio of The Blake House. The organizer of the club arranged for a buffet of breakfast items: eggs, home fries, sausages, bacon, salad and fruit. All of which was quite good and served with great efficiently. The servers were pleasant and generous with coffee refills. I had a peak at the... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
