On a cold, dark, Sunday night in January, I stepped into Wabora for the first time, on the insistence of my son. I'd walked by it dozens of times, but couldn't really see anyone inside, or even a front door for that matter. I should have tried earlier. Food is delicious, service at the bar is excellent, and the room... More

Convenient if you are staying at the Thompson but not worth it the sushi is sub-par and the decor is poorly done. I would explore looking for other options.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was nice. When I entered, there were 3 employees in the bar area who were engaged in a conversation. I had to greet them. I got a small table in a noisy section of the restaurant. My waiter took forever to come over, and my food took forever to arrive. It was average at best.... More

We recently purchased a groupon for the Sushi Making class at Wabora. I would highly recommend this class. The instructor (restaurant managers) was great and very personable. We learned how to make two different type of rolls, and both were amazing and easy to make at home. We met great people as well. This was an awesome experience that I... More

We took the sushi making class at Wabora, and it was so much fun! Daniel and Chef Kim were excellent hosts and teachers. I would definitely recommend to a friend.

Wabora was our best meal in three nights in Toronto. Our server advised us on sake, which turned out to be great. My udon was delicious and the sushi/sashimi was delicious, also. Service was prompt and efficient. Recommended highly.

My family celebrated my birthday, taking the sushi making class in mid July. There were 6 of us, so we had an opportunity to learn together and test each other's creations. I was very impressed with how we were instructed; an opportunity to observe, then try it with a chef close at hand. We were able to make sushi a... More

I was in Wabora more than 10 times in a past 2 years and can fairy say that it is the most delicious sushi in TO. The variety of rolls are excellent , always fresh fish and complex rolls. It's a bit pricey but well worth every penny! Located conveniently in downtown Toronto in a Thompson hotel. The staff is... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
