We had a really good dinner here. The atmosphere was really nice and the staff were very attentive even though it was a really busy night.

My wife and I went here to celebrate my birthday. The meal was great. She had the grilled halibut and I had the veal with mushroom sauce. The server recommended the pasta appetizer and it was great ie boar meat sauce. We shared a cheesecake with fruit for dessert. Of special note was the service, which was superb and gracious-welcoming... More

Buoungiorno Commadante! A familiar hello as we approach our table. This little authentic Italian resto on King St E is a wonderful expression of simplicity and excellence. I always suggest my guest go for the Burrata from Puglia, not the buffalo mozzarella... a striking difference. they had it this time and my guest enjoyed it as a complete lunch menu... More

What a great restaurant. Staffed almost entirely by European waiters and waitresses. They were attentive, professional and knowledgeable. The ambiance was terrific and bustling. Try the fennel and orange salad if you can. We also had vitello Al limone and the papardelle with a wild boar sauce. Served with house red and house white wines. Excellent!

We arrived en spec looking for a table at Carisma last week and was not disappointed. From the kick off we were impressed with the service which just got better. Carlos our waiter had excellent knowledge of the menu and was able to give recommendations - his knowledge of European football was also quite impressive. Food was excellent and the... More

Title says it all. I'm not sure why it is rated so highly. Interesting, creative dishes served well. Place gets a bit loud, especially when seated next to a drunk couple.

This is some of the best Italian food I have ever had. Very cool ,sophisticated room. Busy, but the service was impeccable. A hand made pasta starter with truffles was out of this world. Had grilled Branzino. Probably could have eaten it twice as it was so wonderful. The wine list is superb.

I was impressed with the ambiance when I walked in for the first time. Upscale, dark, and vibrant. The food was good, the steak was really good, the fish (halibut as a special) was dry (don't order it). The apps (grilled calamari and carpaccio) were ok/average, I've had better! I would say 3.5 out of 5 overall. The service however... More

Very classy place, Ate here a few days ago and had an excellent meal. Place was very busy but the food was still of a high quality and was not compromised in any way.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
