Wow, fabulous meal, ambiance and service! We're not from Toronto but wanted to meet up with friends we hadn't seen for quite some time and treat them to a fabulous dinner...thank you Trip Advisor. This place is small in size but big on everything else! (Tip, try to get the table by the window to enjoy your conversations...the restaurant can... More

Very attentive and intuitive staff. Generally nice atmosphere and appropriate lighting. Food was absolutely delicious. Drink orders were followed precisely with refreshing results. Even though we were seated in the middle of the room (this can be a pet peeve), there was enough space between us and other tables to not make this much of an issue. It would be... More

Great restaurant, arrived early, 6.15pm, no reservation, but seated promptly. Water and bread came quickly. The bread was infused with a rosemary oil and delicious. We had sea bass and veal with lemon sauce, both delicious and well presented. Staff friendly and efficient. If you want the chicken or osso buco, there is a 25 minute wait but I am sure... More

We were undecided on which bottle of wine and the sommelier introduced us to a perfect choice. The bread delivered to the table was wonderful. I ordered the sea bass and my husband had the boar ragu. They were two fantastic dinners. We ended with the amazing cream brûlée. Couldn't be happier with the meal and great service by the... More

An intimate place with solidItalian fare. The waiters are older which says to me that these guys are professionals. And they were. Attentive and knowledgable. Mediterranean Sea Bass gets 5 stars, they know how to do fish. The lamb was perfectly done. And the osso buco was huge on the risotto. And very rich. The ripasso wine was perfect!

The restaurant projects itself as a romantic 20's/30's style Italian . Near the heart of the business district, being justifiably busy for couples as well as groups, tables being close, and so many hard surfaces in a tastefully decorated environment, make that claim a little difficult to sustain. However, this is undoubtedly a very classy fine dining restaurant with a good choice of dishes,a great... More

Meals were fantastic, I took my parents there and we loved all entrees and mains we had and also the winelist was very complete and with excellent options. The atmosphere is lovely, intimate and it was quiet when we were there but we went early, right when it opened. It's really excellent, good to know there's such a great Italian... More

"It wasn't great" Dinner service by our waiter was loud and a fast, definitely not what you would expect from an upscale restaurant like this. The noise level in this restaurant makes it very difficult to have a discussion with your guest across the table. It is highly recommended that you bring as a means of communication a note pad... Service was great - waiters were very attentive and friendly without being overbearing. We had insalata de bufalata, spaglietelli with shrimp, and veal raviolini. Portions were reasonable, dishes were well-seasoned and flavorful, pasta tasted absolutely fresh. The Rosemary focaccia was also fresh out of the oven and delicious. Highly recommend!

We were staying at the Omni King Edward and the concierge suggested Carisma which is right next door. Our meal was excellent, the service impeccable and all our expectations were met. The sommelier recommended an excellent Cabernet and didn't try to up sell us to a more expensive price point. When we finished our meal it was pouring down rain... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
