My Son organized a tasting meal for our Canada Day weekend visit to Toronto. When he made the reservation, he was called back by the chef who asked our animal preference - he chose beef - and our adventure level, which my Son said was 8/10. We had an awesome "whole animal" experience. Over the course of three hours we... More

We went to Beast for brunch on a Saturday morning. I knew you couldn't make reservations so we set off reasonably early from our hotel to make sure we got there shortly after opening time. We managed to get one of the last tables out on the patio, from what I could see there was no-one seated inside yet so... More

We were there with a group for brunch on a Sunday morning. We had really slow and pained service like anytime we wanted something it was a HUGE chore being asked. We ordered donuts (which are available while supplies last) we ordered 2 flavors that were sold out so asked what was available. Found out what was and ordered it..... More

I do t understand the craze about massive portions, and that is what this place pride itself at and does well. I thought the food was good but not amazing. The signature sandwich is soaked in gravy which takes any taste that the fried chicken might have. The texture of the biscuit is great, but again as it is soaked... More

I and a party of 8 went here for Dinner on a Friday night. I had made a reservation earlier. To start off (which is no where on their website) this is a Tapas style restaurant and if you were not aware of that, it is a bit of a shock when you consider the price. When i had made... More

I've been to beast a few times and the food is always great! No problems there, but the service is always questionable to say the least. Maybe it's that queen west hipster crowd but it's not the way the general public like to be served. No smile and unapologetic. Even when the waiter got my order wrong he was arguing... More

A small old house conversion. Susur Lee had his first restaurant here. We were here over 30 years ago and it hasn't changed much in environment. That said the food is just as good. They suggested that three tapas selections = one entree. We ordered 6 items for the two of us, plus oysters, and were stuffed. The duck ham... More

This was a good feed at the "Beast". Not being from the area, I waited a long time to be near a place with something different to offer. Is this Fusion? I don't know what that means and who needs to label things that are so artistic, so full of flavor, scrumptious? (silly word), but what it was was totally... More

Went here with a few friends for lunch. There was 5 of us and we waited about 15 minutes which isn't bad. The place is very tiny but super cute. The food was amazing and the coffee was superb. Our service was also good. We ordered donuts to go but ended up eating them at our table because they looked... More

For a surprise I decided to take the +1 for Sunday morning Brunch at The Beast Restaurant in Toronto. If you decide to go be sure to get there before they open at 10 am. If you arrive at 10:15 am the restaurant will be full. There will be an hour long wait to obtain a table. We did not... More

Staying in Queen Street and West Queen West

Neighborhood Profile
Queen Street and West Queen West
Known as the Art & Design District, West Queen West is one of the most energetic and dynamic of Toronto's neighborhoods. Along with its great modernist museums, clubs, and restaurants, it's home to some of the funkiest specialty shops, ranging from clothing to stationary to collectables, and caters to niche and vintage shoppers of all kinds. That makes it a mecca for creatives, including hobbyists designers, writers, and painters. With ink on their hands and fabric pelts in their bags, visitors to Queen Street traverse the avant-garde blend of historic architecture and ultra-contemporary fare. Home to some of Toronto's chicest hotels and most modish java fixes, busy with street cars, and always suffused with live music drifting onto packed patios at bars and clubs by nightfall, the vibrancy of West Queen West is undeniable.
