Great service, good food and a nice atmosphere

Just had breakfast here and really liked it. The service was excellent, got seated and served straight away. I had Hank's Benny with peameal bacon and I really liked it. Eggs were perfect, great bacon, good quality avocado. The only problem was the home fries were a bit too stodgy for me and the... read more

Great atmosphere, great prices, awesome food, friendly service, great coffee! I've been twice, and no complaints whatsoever from either visit. All in all, awesome! Try it. The best valued breakfast / lunch place I've seen in that area!

After a brisk 10 minute walk in sub-zero weather, Hank's Breakfast Poutine was just what I needed to take the chill off. Gotta love this interpretation of a Canadian classic! It's a good thing the food is so good at Hank's, because we couldn't say the same for the coffee and tea. But all-in-all, we enjoyed the food, service, atmosphere... More

We live right across the street from this place and go there a few times a month for brunch. This is the type of place with amazing food and ambiance in a great location where you'd expect to pay high prices. I don't understand how it's so low-priced. Do show up early for brunch if you don't want to be... More

When we spend a weekend inToronto, we are usually somewhere around Union Station. Hank's is one of our go to places for breakfast. The place is small but we are usually there before the breakfast crowd arrives and have no problem finding a table. I am a tea drinker, they have a tea menu, and make your brew fresh with... More

I was somewhat impressed by Hank's Fried Chicken and Waffles. Very tasty - especially the friend chicken part. My two main concerns about this dish is that I would prefer 'belgian-style waffles' that are somewhat crispy on the outside and moist on the inside rather than just moist overall. My second and bigger concern about this dish for a weekend... More

The Place A cozy establishment and a St. Lawrence café gem, Hank’s serves an array of baked goods, expressos, weekend Brunch and Lunch specials. Be sure to arrive early on weekends as seating fills up fast! Order Up! On a cool fall Sunday, I settled on an Earl Grey tea and for $13 the Eggs Pacific which includes; two poached... More

Went for brunch on a Sunday morning after attending a wedding there the night before. It was a long wait and the line isn't attended so no one really understands how many people are ahead of them. We finally got a table and the food was worth the wait. My only criticism was that the portions were not generous. I... More

My husband and I went for Sunday breakfast. The restaurant was very busy and we were told the wait for a table would be 10 minutes; the staff did offer us a table with a bar seat but we said that we preferred to wait for a regular table. A lady came in after us asking for a table for... More

Two of us came in and waited for breakfast. They said that it would be about 10 minutes. Just as a table for two became available someone else came in and they gave that table to that person. This is just after we were told that we were the next to be seated. Absolutely terrible service.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
