The George Brown school has moved their student restaurant to a better location with more visibility. Surprisingly not busy, when you consider the next great chefs of Toronto are making interesting and tasty fare. Nice open concept with open grill to let you see the chefs at work. The food was excellent, even though i can't remember what i had!!... More

There were twelve enthusiastic young chefs and an instructor in the kitchen for our lunch. Evaluated exclusively for fine dining, Chefs House was four stars. The room was etremely well furnished, contemporary, bright and spacious. Seating was comfortable. The menu included five starters and five mains, and five desserts. For starters, we had prosciutto in a salad, and a cold... More

My boyfriend lives down the street from this place and we've always been meaning to try it, so we did on our one year anniversary. We didn't have a reso and they sat us down right away (it was a Wednesday). Server was attentive and the food came quickly. The appetizers were ok, same with the dessert. My salmon main... More

I always try to eat here during their summerlicious/winterlicious set menu. To be fair, I always enjoy it and I should try to go more often. I love that students in hospitality and cooking get to put their skills so good use and the food always tastes great. You can taste the passion and hard work in your meal. This... More

We have just returned from our Summerlicious experience at The Chefs' House. This was our first time there - what a revelation! The overall experience was great. These are students cooking and serving you and you really feel that you are making a difference in someone's life and you are having a delicious meal at the same time. I really... More

I’ve wanted to try the Chef’s House for awhile, since this is the training restaurant for hospitality and culinary students at George Brown College. What I liked: 1. Had the asparagus with avocado and quinoa. I didn’t expect it to served in the shape of a beef patty, but I was pleasantly surprised since every bite nicely mixed asparagus and... More

I have been to The Chef's House at least 5 times. I take my staff there and frequently go with colleagues, friends and family. You can reserve on Open Table. This is by far one of the best places to go for Summerlicious or Winterlicious as the food portions, quality and service standards do not drop unlike some other restaurants.... More

Four of us went for dinner in this unusual restaurant in downtown Toronto. Why unusual, because the staff are all students from the George Brown College, with a few supervisors to give guidance. The waiters were all in their first week on the job so the service was a little unpolished, but none-the-less friendly and attentive. We all ordered different... More

This is the best cheap dining experience in Toronto as it is run by the students of the fine dining course of GBC. Three amusing courses for under 25 dollars. You would pay 50 just for some of the entrees they serve at a regular restaurant.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
