In town for the night for meetings. Ended up walking in on a Sunday evening. Ate at the bar. The service was excellent, with complete explanation of their extensive steak menu, regional differences, etc. The food was also excellent, my steak cooked perfectly and the half side options were perfect for one. The wine list is very impressive. Being solo,... More

Great experience at this trendy steakhouse right next to a fun night club Early Mercy! Tried the Wagyu, Kobe, and some very specific farm steaks from all over the world. Shared great and BIG bottles of wine with the group! Service and sommelier were super kind, thoughtful and made perfect recommendations to all all of us the best possible experience!!

The steaks were out of this world, better than H60 but the sides are definitely NOT the star of the dish,. Over price and lacking in imagination and taste. good thing the steaks were incredible. Go for potato based sides and keep it simple to avoid disappointment.

Lived in Toronto for 4 years and ate here several times each time thinking it was the best steak I ever had. Visited recently (6 years later) and it is still the best steak I ever had. As a Houston resident and well traveled retiree, I've had a number of very good steaks that don't compare. We were seated in... More

The caesar salad was wonderful. It is hand-made at your table and you can add to it the ingredients you want plus the amounts of each ingredient. Well, the meats you can get at any steakhouse and the ambience is really not there at all. Rather plain, odd space and you need to climb stairs to get to main dining... More

My first night in downtown Toronto. My local colleagues told me I would find a nice place to eat somewhere on King Street. After strolling by all these restaurants for a while I took a left to walk north (away from King Street) because there was just too much choice... Almost immediately when I turned into XXXXXXXXX Street I smelled... More

Seven of us went for dinner, and ate family style - ordering lots of dishes and placing them in the middle. We all had Caesar Salad for starters. It was in my opinion, great, but a couple of the girls thought it was a bit over seasoned. Still there was not much left by the time the steaks arrived. We... More

Probably the best steak I have ever had. My non-serrated knife cut through it like butter. Cooked to perfection too. The sides were very good as well. Superb. Only reason it's not a 5/5 is I thought the service should have been better. We were left looking at our dirty plates for at least 10 minutes and they were only... More

The hostess walked us in to a waiting area and told us they will just re arrange the sitting for 4 ppl. I waited almost 20 min... More

Well, it is not Goodman in London or some amazing trattorie in Florence like "la Buca dell'orafo" but Jacob ranks for surely just behind this too and so I confirm it must be the best in Toronto. Very cozy place and very nice waiters to helped us in suggesting the right meat cuts. My wife had a strip loin us... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
