We walked in and were seated right away. The first thing I noticed was the smell of grease. Like, a permeating the whole place smell of grease. If I'm in a pub, that might be ok. In a restuaurant that purports to be fine dining, not so much. The waiter came over within about five minutes and brought us water... More

We've been a few years ago & found it very good but this time it was totally different. It was a weekday and no one else there except us.. Maybe that should have been a hint! The waitress was clueless..wife ordered an Italian Pinot Grigio and after she brought the 3rd bottle we gave up . Wife then ordered a... More

The owner informed us recently of an unfortunate event concerning his chef and some female staff. He was very grieved and went out of his way to explain the situation, and explain that a new chef had been hired. He was very kind and apologetic. Food was wonderful. Atmosphere was wonderful.

Many strange things happened at this restaurant. Food that was ordered which should have come quickly (soup) took forever to come. Some of the entrees were served on plates and some (the same entree) in bowls! Two identical salmon dishes were ordered and when they came the sides were completely different. The server said that things were plated according to... More

We had a fantastic tasting menu. Every dish was wonderful and the service was kind and attentive. This is not a restaurant that you go to for a quick bite to eat. You have to take the time to savor the food. I highly recommend it.

Ignored some recent review of Mogette and glad we did. Busy Tuesday night with no chef or service issues. Good was well presented and delicious. Guests opted for traditional beef bourgignon, chicken supreme and various apps. Onion soup and bleu meules were terrific as in past visits. Finished with another trad dish, creme brûlée. Nothing challenging or unique on the... More

We had a very lovely night at Mogette Bistro... the food was good, the service was attentive just right ... we had calamari for appetizers and lamb tenderloins for the main course ... prepared exactly as ordered - medium and medium-rare ... only one thing on the negative side - chocolate muss portion we shared was way too large and... Food was worth 4 points, but chef knocked off one. Food was good. My wife's chicken was excellent, my beef medallion special was good, sauce on the salty side. The side on both our dishes were excellent. Bread was also very good. Creme Brulee was good. The onion soup... I could tell they use very good ingredients, but it was... More

Worst experience ever. Good food one waitress overworked so we waited 45 mins for apps. Not her fault. Worst thing was chef yelling at her and swearing in French at her. When confronted by another paying customer who was disgusted at how he was treating the waitress. Chef yelled at her and told it was none of her business. 3... More

Don't go here unless you can put up with a mouthy swearing chef with no respect for others. We went out for a nice evening out at a nice restaurant and we were met with a mouthy, swearing chef. And the fact that we were served after other people arrived, didn't help. We have never seen this before! The chef... More

Staying in North End

Neighborhood Profile
North End
The North End is a nucleus of specialty food restaurants and shops, especially around its Mount Pleasant Village area. Frequented by antiquers for its numerous collectable shops, furniture spots, and oddity stores, the North End is a maverick of the quaint and quality. Vintage toy stores, accessory shops, and cinemas welcome perusers to step back in time, while the wide pedestrian squares and the large medical and business community inject it with a dose of modernity. With numerous cafes and Toronto's greatest number of independent booksellers, it isn't uncommon to see folks in this area at their leisure, reading outdoors and in eateries, and taking life a bit more slowly – even if it's only during their lunch break.
