Met some people for business from Denver and wanted to meet at a downtown restaurant nearby where they were staying. I chose Jack Astor's as I had been there before and figured it would be a great casual place to meet. Service was very friendly, the food was good too. I had a nice salad with chicken as did one... My boyfriend and I were out today from BC and had an amazing view of the square, sat outside and enjoyed really good small meals and a few drinks for my birthday! Our waitress Leighton was great and we will be back in the next week for sure!! Highly recommend, wonderful service, quick kitchen and amazing views!!

Took my girls to Jack Astor's at Yonge/Dundas Square this past Sunday. Service is always quick, courteous, friendly. Although it's not fine dining in the least, for a meal with two teenagers, it works perfectly. A good assortment of food, all cooked properly. Must say I felt a bit rushed, however, we were on the outside patio and it was... More

This is a very lively and welcoming restaurant/bar with a great location and patio. The menu offers a wide variety of options and the food is very good. However, as it is quite popular service can be quite slow. Despite this, I'd recommend this restaurant.

If you are going to a bar to watch a sporting event and you want a snack? It's fine. If you want a gourmet meal and you have outgrown chicken fingers, try somewhere else. It's not bad, it's just greasy and not well refined.

Had lunch on the outdoor patio. Had the chicken and goat cheese sandwich which was amazing. Service was outstanding from the minute we walked in.

The food and service were always good and service was prompt. The menu had good variety. It was a little louder than I'd like but my son and his wife didn't find that a problem.

We visited this restaurant twice. We found it by accident on the first night and when faced by needing somewhere to eat, came back a second time as it was a safe bet. The restaurant is inside a weird complex facing the main square. Sitting outside is really cool with great views of the square. The menu in terms of... More

When in Toronto,we are always trying to find new places and on this visit we felt like an outdoor type of pub. The roof top patio is very cool but they have a mist spraying the whole time over the patio, which didn't work out to well with my wife's hair. The food was good but with what we had, drinks etc,we... Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
