Visited with family in from out of town on the May long weekend. No one acknowledged that we walked into the restaurant and we eventually had to ask if it would be alright to seat ourselves. After sitting down it took 15min before our drink order was taken, and another 15min after ordering to get the drinks. Our food order... More

Looks like we dropped the ball here. It was the May 24 long weekend and it was extremely busy all three days. If you happen to have your receipt i would love to know who served you (found at the bottom). I can be reached through the Guest Feedback section of our website. If not, any other info would be... The food was fresh and well presented. Portions were also generous. Service was very slow, though friendly. Table on patio was mostly in the sun after having specifically requested shade. That ruined the experience for half of the diners.

Hi BB, Thanks for the generally positive review. I would like to know a little more about the slow service and why you were seated in the sun instead of the shade. Could you possibly contact me via the Guest Feedback section of our website? That would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for coming in and we hope to see you... More

From the first hello, until our parting the staff treated us as though we had been personally recommended by their BFF's. We had the daily special (Steak and Mushroom pie) and Fish and Chips. Both meals were excellently prepared, well presented and tasty. The Steak and Mushroom pie was a hearty meal for a chilly spring day that warmed me... More

Went here for dinner and sat outside on the patio with friends. We got the last table. The location is very central to downtown and the Byward Market. Service was friendly and very efficient. The food was delicious. It's the best pub food I've ever had! I had chicken curry. I found it strange that they didn't serve rice, but... More

Hi Bunny! Thanks so much for the great review. We are always striving to provide great value in a great atmosphere. Funny you should mention the rice. We used to serve the Chicken Curry with rice but we found that many people wanted different options. Now you can have anything you like with any of our mains or sandwiches. Like... More

We spent a Friday evening after work here with friends recently. Good beer selections; good nachos, sharp service and a well broken-in motif and atmosphere. The Friday top rail drink special is $5. It is all good. Recommended.

This pub, near the Parliament Buildings and the National Museum of Art is very much like an English Pub. Many flavours of Draft Beer are available. We had sandwiches, coffee and beer.

Food was good, seafood chowder was really tasty but almost $60 for 3 of us for lunch was excessive. We didn't order alcohol, just coffee, pop and entrees.

The Earl of Sussex has been in operation at the corner of Murray St and Sussex Dr since 1980. We have 20 draught beers on tap and one of the nicest patios in the ByWard Market. With lots of daily food and drink specials The Earl continues to be a favourite for locals and tourists alike. See you after work for a pint?
