Absinthe is a Restaurant where you can eat too much, drink too much, put your elbows on the table and laugh out loud... all at the same time and nobody cares. Absinthe is a restaurant of the people for the people.
My wife and I had an excellent evening (a Tuesday) at Absinthe while we celebrated my wife's birthday!
There was only one other person in the restaurant the evening we went and they only stayed about 30 mins after we arrived. No one else came in while...we were there so we were treated to a special unique solo experience.
While we were treated to the entire restaurant by ourselves it was sad to ponder on this as I am unsure how Absinthe is able to maintain their business.
We started out with a Cesar salad and the meatballs (veal / pork).
Perfect seasoning in the meatballs and an amazing sauce that accompanied it - wow!
My wife just raved over the duck confit that she ordered. We've had duck on many different occasions over the years, but she said this was by far the best she's ever had!
I tried a sampling and I can wholeheartedly agree that the duck was exquisite - it was exactly as duck should be prepared and enjoyed - meaty, tender and oh so juicy!
I had the steak au poivre and again it was cooked and seasoned to perfection - and the green beans were crunchy and so tasty in their garlic and butter sauce!
The unique special part that stood out was my wife asked if we could hear our wedding song so we could dance to it. Our waitress quickly went over and found our song and we were able to enjoy our own private romantic dance in the middle of the restaurant. I can say we'll likely never have that experience again of being able to select our wedding song and dance in a completely empty restaurant!
She even took a picture and shared the photo with us!
Thank you again so much Absinthe for a memorable evening!
Your staff was amazing!
Again so sad for your business to see that we were the only ones who were able to come out. I do hope more people come out more often to support your business!
We've found a new favourite spot and I am sure we'll be back soon!More
A friend and I had dinner on the front patio on Nov.7 to take advantage of the unexpectedly warm respite in the weather. She had the steak frites with sautéed green beans, all done to perfection and ended up taking half home for a second...meal.
I had seared tuna, quinoa, kale, nuts and dried fruit. It was delicious! I could eat it everyday which is saying something because I’m not usually a fan of fish. But this was so flavourful and lovely.
I’ve been to absinthe many times and have had the burger, duck, steak frites and cheese fondue and all have been delicious. Sometimes it’s hard to choose which to have.
Service was attentive, friendly and professional. Really lovely experience, thanks you Absinthe.More
My husband and I went to Absinthe on a Friday evening (still doing date night after 49 years). Unfortunately, because of Covid there were not many patrons but the restaurant followed all the appropriate safety precautions so we felt completely safe eating inside the restaurant....We both had the fish chowder to start and it was one of the best we have ever had. We were expecting a heavy cream based chowder but this was a light stock based version and was truly delicious. For mains I had the Lobster Roll & my husband had the Confit de Canard... OMG to both. Hugh chunks of lobster & the duck was moist and melt in your mouth tender.
Wine is only available by the glass (a pricey option if you want more than 1 glass) or by the bottle. Since I prefer red and my husband prefers white we were stuck ordering by the glass. Having 1/2 bottles available would have been nice.
In summary this was a very nice restaurant - the food was delicious and the wait staff was very efficient. Definitely will go back - will probably go the "take-out" route next time since Covid is still very much around.More
We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary here! I chose Absinthe's signature burger for the first time, it was cooked exactly how I like it and very tasty! My husband ordered the duck confit "again", and loves it, such a treat! We really like the atmosphere...here, tables are well spaced out to socially distance, the server was attentive and friendly and the owner is a lovely, special guy!!More
We had a delicious meal on the patio last week -- shrimp ceviche, lobster rolls which we love and brought back memories of Maine, and amazing duck-fat fries. Excellent fruit crisp for dessert. Service was friendly and attentive. In May we had a takeout dinner...for two which was copious and delicious. We will keep coming back.More
We are so happy to be able to support our local businesses again! Although the menu is considerably smaller, there is something for everyone, and everything was delicious. Portions are very, very generous. Service was friendly. Another wonderful night out at Absinthe!
