We were in downtown Hamilton at the First Ontario Centre (formerly Copps Colosseum) and stopped in to Kampai for dinner before the show. It's small with limited seating so it was good we made a reservation. Everything was very tasty and REALLY fresh as the sushi chef was nonstop all evening at a counter in the restaurant. A real treat... More

Went to eat here before a concert at the FirstOntario Centre. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was nice and quiet. The rolls, sushi and sashimi were all very good. Have never had sushi in Hamilton before but was very satisified with this restaurant! Would definitely go back.

Excellent! Fresh, quality ingredients skillfully prepared by open-view chef who greats diners with a casual, friendly "HELL-oh-OH?" as they enter. Attentive service, balanced seasoning, mouth-watering dishes prepared to perfection. They have pride in their work. Tasty complimentary miso soup. Calamari, Beef Teriyaki perfect! Other diners enjoyed sushi, sashimi, tempura, etc. All were impressed. Very affordable with medium sized portions. Traditional... More

I enjoyed à la carte dining of mackerel, salmon, and tuna sashimi along with the spicy scallop roll. Aside from the Saba ( mackerel) which seemed a bit dry... The sashimi was some of the freshest I have had. And I think their spicy scallop has replaced chop-chop as my favourite sushi dessert ;)

Kampai offers what I consider somewhat above average sushi. Nirigi are hearty sized and reasonably fresh. They offer some unique sushi with garlic cream rolls baked as an example. The service is lovely, but I personally believe their prices are too high for the quality received.

Very authentic sushi in terms of taste and consistency. Also a number of other Japanese dishes available. Tempura is also some of the best you will find compared to other restaurants.

The service and food are always amazing! This restaurant is pricier than an 'all you can eat' sushi bar, however, it it definitely worth paying for. You may never go back to an 'all you can eat'. Seriously. It's that good.

This is undoubtedly the best sushi I have ever had in North America (and I travel a lot). I don't know how their fish is prepared, but never before this restaurant have I had fish that simply melts in your mouth. All their rolls are delicious and we always end up ordering the boat platter with a side of shiitake... More

I went to Kampai with two girlfriends to celebrate one of their birthdays. The birthday girl is a huge sushi fan and we have been there a couple of times in the past, although it has been a couple of years now. As soon as we walked in we thought "oh" and noticed that they seem to have let the... More

The best quality sushi in Hamilton. It is a bit pricey, but if you want quantity, you have to go to a buffet, but if you want quality, go here.
