I came here with a bunch of girlfriends this past weekend and it was a blast! The service was awesome, they looked after us so well and it was a really fun vibe! We only had drinks, but I will definitely be back for food! The menu looked awesome!!

Our server Victoria did a wonderful job of taking great care of us and our kids - amazing personal service! The food here is outstanding - bad reviews of this restaurant must come from some truly miserable humans who just don't get it. That staff in here work so hard to make it amazing. Try the fish and chips and... More

Dear foodobsessed78 OMG....thank you, thank you, thank you! Victoria is indeed amazing and we love her to bits! We always try our best, however on occasion that is never enough for some. I am so happy you enjoyed your experience and I will post your comments on our communication board for all our staff to see... Cheers Scott More

This is easily the most over rated restaurant in Barrie. I have been here a few times and it was OK, but my most recent trip there turned me off for good. They claim to be a "local" gastropub but when I asked my waitress where the cod came from (as in how can Pacific Cod be considered local), she... More

Dear Albarrie We are truly sorry that you had 1 star experience! Our first in over 7 years. You mentioned that you had dined here a few times in the past, so am assuming that you had better experiences during those visits. To address your concerns about "local" we always strive to utilize local products where possible, hence our 16... More

I had the hot sausage board and my mate had the Caesar salad poutine. The brats on my board were slightly spiced and perfectly cooked. They were accompanied by a fresh salad, a maple honey dipped pretzel, a slab of aged white cheddar and a fine dipping mustard. The poutine was awesome and started in the hot serving pan as... More

I understand that we went here during the tail end of a very busy day for The Local Gastropub, but even so I don't think I'll return after the experience I had. The waitress was dismissive and unhelpful (e.g. not informing us that there was meat in the mac & cheese, not knowing where the fish was from), and when... More

Dear Thestarsweare You are indeed correct with us having an extremely busy day, in truth the busiest day of the year, which also led to a lot of emotions all round. I personally apologize again for your experience and would like to offer, on top of the discount you received on promenade days the opportunity to call and receive an... More

We love and Barrie but have never been to the local gastropub. The sign is a bit under whelming and is off the main strip of Dunlop where the other pub style restaurants are. We decided to give it a try during promenade days, to our surprise the place was packed! The menu was small but offered great variety, including... More

We chose this eatery based on its TripAdvisor rating and were not disappointed. The 2015 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence is prominently displayed on the wall [see photo]. There is a selection of craft beers on tap so great for tasting local product. My wife had the chicken korma and I had the pulled beef tacos, the latter a rather messy... More
