We had lunch here, our big meal. I loved the lamb shank and my wife very much enjoyed her meal. We are beer centric travelers and this pub does disappoint. While we ate upstairs in a beautiful and quiet room we also wandered downstairs after our meal. The pub downstairs is incredibly quaint, you are immediately transported across the big... More

Again to the Henry House after Shakespeare By The Sea. They serve good food all night long. Local draught can be Peculiar. The specials are always good. Service happy. Home made desserts. First date was there and we keep coming back.

The upstairs (not main floor not the basement) in the Henry House is one of my favourite places for tapas and a drink in Halifax. It's beautiful - dark wood, fireplace, comfy chairs - and has a great bar/tender. It's only open Friday and Saturday evenings but is worth the climb.

Enjoyed 2 pub-style meals here. Requested a salad substitution instead of fries, and the salads were great. Only minor complaint was with the fish/chips meal, the fish was room temperature. I could have requested that they bring me back a hotter one, but didn't, so my bad for that. Otherwise, great meal and interesting selection of beers.

Great choice for a bite and drink. Lovely, heritage (c.1830) venue with a relaxing patio outside. Pear & goat cheese salad came out in 2 minutes flat, and my pint came even faster! Service very friendly, would recommend! Named for with William Alexander Henry, a prominent native of Halifax who just so happens to be a Father of the Canadian Confederation.

We ate here for our last dinner in Canada and I'appreciated choice. We ate simply with typical English dishes and a really good dessert. Staff is lovable and really kind. Highly recommended.

I love this place! We drop in often to have the greatest seafood chowder or fish and chips. The service is always excellent and the food is fab. We love the old pub feel with the great fireplace and exposed brick walls! Strongly recommend Henry House for a drink or a meal!

Cool little restaurant in one of Halifax's oldest buildings owned by one of the fathers of confederation and Halifax's previous Mayor. Staff and locals were very friendly and helpful to travellers. Just a block from the boardwalk and the Westin. Food was ok for the price. Meal was ready suspiciously quick but tasty none the less.

My husband and I really enjoyed the atmosphere as recommended by a local to ask to be seated in the basement, it felt like an authentic British pub. He had the lamb shank and I had the steak and mushroom pie, and we shared the chowder. We thoroughly enjoyed every bit of our food! Service was courteous and fairly prompt.

We had diner there in early July 2016 (family of 4, with 2 kids 8 and 10). The food was very good (I had the fish and chips), and at a good reasonable price. The bilingual service was very good, and the beer was exceptionally good! I will definitely go again the next time I'm in Halifax!
