Went here with some friends and colleagues for a business dinner. Food choice was excellent with a wide choice of local and traditional food. Tried a few interesting house cocktails before dinner. Great night out and friendly service finished it off well.

Interesting spot with a nice menu. Sat at the bar watching the young chap shuck oysters, so naturally we had to order a nice selection to start and then went with a number of appetizers. Decent wine list and good service. Pretty groovy Jazz Duet...More

Delightful rooms in a renovated century plus building. Brilliant kitchen, enjoyed terrific chowder, flawless tuna, and a delightful bottle of Nova Scotia wine recommended by my server. Not my first visit and won't be my last.

Disappointed is about the best I can say. We had an 8pm reservation and received a phone call at 8:01 to see if we were coming which seemed a bit odd. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and arrived about 60 seconds later...More

I'm very particular about my seafood chowder and this was perfect. Large pieces of lobster meat and scallops. It's not overly creamy, there's a great balance of cream and broth. The butter poached lobster was also amazing! This restaurant cannot be missed.

Go for ambiance, service, oysters, cocktails and the cod! Skip the scallops (sand!), strip-loin steak and desserts! Lobster and calamari were just OK. If you want special dessert go up the street to The Middle Spoon (Choco-Lava Cake!)

Was looking forward to eating here but was disappointed. I had the cod and it was good but not great. I found everything very expensive and not really worth the price. My companion had the tuna and felt the same. Very nice atmosphere and good...More

First visit to The Press Gang - will definitely visit again next time in Halifax. Excellent service. Loved the atmosphere. The halibut and prawns were fantastic. The scotch/whisky menu is impressive 150+ to choose from.

We visited 3 times and all 3 times we wanted just a drink where we were told "sorry we are full up". Surprising that after we were told we had to go to the bar the seats we wanted were still there 40 minutes later....More
