I don't generally bother to review but when paying $200 for 3 people, with only a 1/2 bottle of wine, I have certain expectations, and some of them weren't met. First the service. It took a while to get some water and when we did, the tap water was warm. Might want to trow an ice cube in the picture.When... More

We were staying at the Prince George and decided to dine here one evening with another couple. Cannot say enough good things about this restaurant: top notch service, outstanding and tasty dishes, beautiful decor and ambience! From the Starting Point menu, we ordered the gnocchi which was definitely the best we have ever eaten. The Focal Point menu had a... More

Dinner was delicious and service was excellent. They took care to ask about allergies and placed items on separate plates/bowls to preserve the experience for everyone else at the table. Between two of us, we had the beet soup, sea bass, lobster, and the snowbird dessert. The presentation was nice. The sea bass was nice and juicy. The lobster was... More

Came here for a business casual meal. The menu is very impressive, lots to choose from, and some very interesting combinations. Between the 3 of us we had the elk, salmon, and haddock. All was spectacular. I forget the name of the dessert, something about "hating lemons and wanting chocolate" was its name...absolutely yummy!

At first glance of the menu, and also when the order is served, "Gio" seems pretentious and snooty. But when that first mouthfull hits your pallet, you find that that is not the case. "Gio"s menu and style of cooking is possibly described best as eccentric, exquistie and very, VERY tastefull. The service at "Gio"s is friendly and warm, and... More

I am a foodie and will often book a restaurant before I book a hotel when I travel. After checking the reviews, I had to try this place and I can confirm the reviews were bang on - this place was amazing. One of the best meals I have had in quite some time. A "must try" if you are... More

The appetizers were stunning. The gnocchi with blue cheese was insane. And the froe gras was one of the best!! The poutine with duck confit we returned because of too much salt. But the present was wonderful. The seabass was like butter and the elk was amazing. Desert had too many choices. We chose the chocolate curry. The first bite... More

Quite a formal atmosphere in this restaurant that forms part of the adjacent Prince George hotel . Exceptionally well prepared and presented dishes with attentive service . Worth a try for that special night out . Recommended .

A restaurant like this in NYC would cost 2 to 3 times what the dining experience costs here at Gio. The food, service, and ambiance were all impeccable. The flavors were sometimes recognizable and sometimes mysterious, so we had a lot of fun with the inventive (but still very comfortable) cuisine. The cocktails were also fantastic. We chose this restaurant... More

Our first night dining here was so delicious and unexpected we returned the next evening. Everything was 5 star including the wait staff which are amazing; one person remembered our names and inquired about our visit and even researched a most wonderful cauliflower recipe. Be sure to order this as an appetizer. Halifax is somewhat underwhelming and does not require... More
