Place was pretty busy when I got there, but servers were attentive. Tried the seafood chowder. Probably one of the best I've had and being from Newfoundland that's a high standard.

Went to this pub about 7 years ago and always recalled how good the food was. Was back in Halifax and decided to go again. Was just as I remembered and the food was fantastic. We started off with sharing the calamari and it came with a fantastic tomato dipping sauce. I had the fish and chips - pretty good;... More

Thank you for your response brontesassy. I am very happy that things were just as you remembered. Heading into tourist season it is great to hear your kind words. Please don't be a stranger, we love keeping in contact with our friends, even those from outside the province. Cheers @TheRedStagHFX More

I came here with some colleagues for dinner, hoping to find something not to far from the hotel we stayed at. And we wanted to try some of the Keith's beers. I can highly recommend this place both for a meal and to sit down and enjoy a good brew of your own choosing. It was a very quiet place... More

We really appreciate your review Br4v0. Things can get pretty mellow during the winter months as you saw. However, if you are ever back during the Summer months you will see an entirely different atmosphere, and even can have a pint of Keith's on our rooftop patio. Hope you are back in Nova Scotia again sometime, would love to see... More

We had purchased a groupon which led us there and then found out we couldn't use it until Feb 1st:( anyhow, we ended up staying and my boyfriend had the sirloin burger which he said was very tasty and he'd have it again and I had the "famous" fish n chips! Not really sure why people rave about it because... More

the Red Stag is a standard pub featuring Alexander Keith beers (it's attached to the brewery). We were there for lunch. The food is just average pub grub - burgers, sandwiches, fries. Service was on the slow side, even though they weren't terribly busy. The deck is the place to eat on a nice day, but there's not much of... More

Visited this unique old brewery. There is a tour available as well as a pub that serves great beer and good food. We tried the local fish and chips as they are known to be good there and it sure was. The beer was really good as well! We were on a cruise so if Halifax is a stop check... More

Attended an event in Halifax with a group and ate here twice. Once was inside and our party of 7 enjoyed everything that they had. The atmosphere was great and we very much enjoyed ourselves. The Saturday night of our visit found us upstairs on their outside patio which was a highlight for sure. The staff, the food and of... More

I really didn't like much about this place. The food is really not great, it seems like everything is pre-made or frozen and is just food for the masses. The service is juvenile and it took 30 minutes to get a salad to the table. It also felt cave-like, which did not help. I come for business monthly and generally... More

My wife and I were on a cruise with Halifax being one of our ports of call. When we inquired about places to enjoy lunch ashore, people recommended walking north on the boardwalk to the casino. Don't waste your time. While wandering around, we found the neatest spot ever, just a couple blocks north of the pier. Located a block... More
