I had the Pale ale battered fish and chips. Not sure who voted it best in Nova Scotia. I'd call it mediocre. Although service and atmosphere was good.

Stopped in for lunch while on "hop on hop off" tour of city. We both had the fish and chips which was excellent. The fish was flaky, the breading was crisp and not greasy. The chips were also tasty. But to my mind the star was the iced hard cider that was a product of the adjacent Alexander Keith's brewery.... More

Stopped in here waiting for the brewery tour to start. Neat little place for a quick drink or two. We did not eat but the food looked pretty good.

Only wanted a quick beer and a bite for lunch, but were tempted to have fish and chips and a couple of beers (excellent). After a week at sea this was tremendous and very much appreciated. Very helpful and friendly staff, ticked all the right boxes !

The food at the Red Stag is really good but the service was mediocre. The decor could use some sprucing up. Lobster dip is fantastic, wings were good, and deep fried pepperoni was interesting. Came for a brewery tour but it was cancelled due to an event night. Should have been posted on their website or least at street level,... More

This place is awesome. Great range of food and they have beers from all over; even Alexander Keith, the oldest brewery in Halifax. It's even great for kids.

The Red Stag Tavern is next to The Alexander Keiths Brewery. We opted for the Tavern instead of the Brewery tour which is about the same price. Great Tavern atmosphere, Servers wear Nova Scotia Tartan skirts, excellent Keiths on tap, but the food was cooked way past done.I would still do this over the $25 brewery tour.

Located right next to Alexander Keith’s Nova Scotia Brewery. We had the open steak sandwich with mushrooms and onions (excellent) along with a Lunenburg stout. Our server, Lauren, appreciated our taste for beers and suggested several craft beer establishments in Halifax that will be reviewed separately. Red Stag was a Plus-Plus!!

My husband and I have always enjoyed this pub. This time I had a coupon to celebrate our anniversary buy one get one free. The coupon was 12.99. My mom ordered the lobster chowder and my husband and I split the fish and chips. The food was great but when we received the bill, we were charged 14.99 for the... More

Well it feels old anyway. A little to dark inside, but thats OK, Went here for dinner after a tour of the old Keith's brewery next door. Wanted to go on the upstairs patio but it was full. This worked out well as inside they were having a trivia challenge, which we loved, except for the table of cheating nerds.... More
