Consistent food and service

During our stay in shediac we had 2 dinner meals and 1 breakfast meal. I had the fish & chips one night and the nice thing is you can choose how many pieces you want so if your not a big eater that's nice. My parents had the fish cakes and they said they were very good. I also had... read more

After church we gathered at Fred's for our dinner. We arrived late and we were all separated. No issues they moved tables to accommodate us what a nice feeling. Everyone had their food, they have the best Hamburg steak dinner with gravy and onions, mash potatoes, cold slaw and vegetables, you have to know this is my favorite. They have... More

Deep fried everything is the theme here - and, unfortunately, they do not excel at this. The food was fried to an anemic looking beige, meaning that it lacked the yummy flavour that deep frying should impart. Top this off with under-spiced batters, and you've got a recipe for bland. Instead, choose Chez Camille, which is not too far from... More

I have been here many times over the years mostly with groups of people who insisted we visit. Although the name has been around for years and restaurant is busy and reasonably clean and has casual decor, it is hard to know if you're going to get great service and food or just plain average food and slow service. Because... More

We've known the "Fred's" name for years and we finally decided to check it out. First, the food was OK but not great. Bar Clams should be advertised as just that; they are not in the same league as full-bodied clams and resemble clam strips. Given the quality of the clams, the quantity was more than sufficient but had they... More

We were a table of eleven so there was allot of variety on our table. I ordered a appetizer of scallops rapped in bacon and they were fresh, sweet and delicious. The large homemade dinner roll that came with my lobster stew was fresh and delicious unfortunately they served it with margarine. The roll was worthy of sweet unsalted butter.... More

My wife and I visited Fred's Restaurant this past weekend. This restaurant has been around for a number of years now. It has always been know for the huge portions, great seafood and reasonable prices. The fried clams, scallops and fish and chips are great choices. Make sure you try their famous home made onion rings. You certainly won't be... More

All I can say is Meh. Would I go back again, probably not. The little packets of tartar sauce was a turn off. If I'm going to a seafood restaurant I kind of expect homemade tartar sauce (heck we even make our own homemade tartar sauce). Nothing we ordered got us excited.

MUST GO if you're in the area or make a special trip there. The food options, quality, taste and friendly staff make this restaurant a must. It has a casual atmosphere and the servers love to talk to tourists.
