Went there with 3 musician friend to do the patio/live music on Thursday nights The music was a very small jazz group playing at the perfect volume level to listen to them and have a conversation at the table This is a not cheap restaurant, but it is not Uber expensive either. The food is very good with a wide choice of menu offerings. Portions are adequate but not generous. The steak choices are not recommended at this time but they will work that glitch out eventually. I had the 3 cheese macaroni and it tasted delicious. The patio ambiance is really nice. They even provided personal electronic bug zapper racquets to make it a fair flight between us and the ever present wasps at this time of year. The score is me 3 and wasps 0 in that matter. No more issues after my 3 successful swipes and sparks I do highly recommend this place for both indoor and outdoor dining. Dining indoors in the real rail car part of here is a nice extra touch

This is a charming location and Matt, our server was very attentive and explained everything very well. They have a varied menu of French dishes and I love foie gras so ordered that, but they had changes to a lovely duck pate with strawberry and rhubarb compote— delicious. A special was a pickerel dish which had also wonderful vegetables. The fish was a bit boney, which pickerel can be, and I was filled from the appetiser so didn’t finish it. As a result we were comped an amazing dessert of a special maple pie by Curtis, grandson of the original matriarch of the restaurant. Highly recommend saving room for this. They want to be sure you enjoy the experience and come back. We hope to. Visiting from Peensylvania.

This place was chosen for the train enthusiasts among us, as well as the French cuisine. Unable to decide what I wanted, I ordered like an oversized child, having the poutine, two soups, and a salad. The others in my party ordered real entrees and everything was lovely. I wasn't crazy about one of my soups, but it wasn't the fault of the soup as it was well prepared. It was just my personal preference. Desserts were fantastic. The service was very good, attentive but not overbearing. A wedding party was in the main hall, so it was a busy evening for them and nothing fell through the cracks.

We decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary at this place (it was required by the dinner reservation to mention if there is a special event). After visiting this place almost 10 years ago some taste-less changes stroke me after stepping inside: a dark red paint all over the walls and a humongous tree right in front of the entrance. There was no special greets or welcome/greets arrangement on the table marking the associated event (we’ve been surprised a year ago for same event, to another restaurant in Winnipeg, where they spoiled us with simple but unforgettable welcome) The food 2 of 5 : Forget the Menu – The Brie fondue not available ( I guess Brie cheese tough to find these days) – The Main server strongly suggested to go with the “specials” ( no details in the menu as been served before) – My wife choose the ( standard) chicken breast and me ( to support the local economy) I choose the Pickerel fillet . Chicken was OK. I had regrets giving up Salmon for (this) pickerel: minuscule and super thin scorched piece of fish with 3 tiny shrimps (not prawns or tiger …those 5$ a pound) and a plate generously filled with half a pound of potatoes, some various type of sauces, some cooked cabbage, asparagus ..not too much “pairing” on the selection. The desert was also disappointing: we picked up the lemon cake – we tried to identify where the “rancid” taste coming and, in the end, both decided that is the “lemon” filling. The drinks: the starter cocktails (we asked 2 Negroni) was clear single Campari taste. The wine was OK, cooled and well served. Entertainment: Piano night 5 of 5 (this was the main reason why we picked up this place for live entertainment) You probably ask why we tipped 30$ - I’m NOT a tipping supporter but I feel generous and respectful for Robert, our server, smile and energy ..(and his age too) . For the management: You may ask your self why some places have people lining up in the lobby anxiously waiting for an available table …and here at 8 PM on Friday night with enjoyable live music, the restaurant was nearly empty.

Awful experience. To start off the server had tables in the dining car and the patio so she was spread out and not very available. There is a door to access the bar and it kept slamming shut everytime a staff member went behind the bar. Our appetizers took 70 minutes because they forgot the french onion soup. It finally came out warm but not very melted, my wife's brie appetizer sat waiting for my soup can came out cold. Waitress finally came around and we sent it back. Entrees came out and my filet that was ordered medium rare came out medium well, the quality of the meat is what I would expect at an all inclusive resort in Cuba, not a French Bistro for $45.

I had the 1/2 rack of lamb listed online for $35 but at the restaurant it's $59. The lamb was okay (lamb is a favorite of mine and I order it often with better results), the buttery mashed potatoes should be renamed "watery" mashed potatoes. The vegetables (shredded red cabbage and asparagus) were mixed with a sweet mash of possibly butternut squash that rendered all too sweet. Being self identified as a family owned business I really wanted to leave a good review. I can't, unfortunately. My wife was quite hungry prior to arrival and luckily the onion soup (which was good) filled her up enough that she didn't have to rely on her unpalatable and mostly untouched main course. Having over-heard another table commenting on the same dessert my wife had, she went to compare notes. They all agreed that the dessert and meals were far less agreeable than anticipated. I truly regret having to leave such a scathing review but hopefully it will serve to initiate some changes. The restaurant replied with an offer to reimburse the difference in price between the advertised price but did not address the meal quality. Update: I appreciate the offer of reimbursement for the price discrepancy but, as I had noticed the difference immediately upon opening the menu, I agreed to the price and ordered, so that is on me. Therefore I will decline your offer. Thank you. The intent of my review was two fold; first and foremost is to aid you in improving your meal offerings (we have eaten in many restaurants across North America and Europe have discerning/educated palates and so understand "haute cuisine" which was not experienced here one would expect for the pricing, and secondly to inform potential customers of our experience.

One of the worst experiences of dining I have ever had. Wait service was slow, inatentive and forgetful of order. Meal must have been prepared not by a chef but by a short order cook at best. If Gordon Ramsey were to sample what was served to me tonight he would run out of f....... explatives. What a disaster.

first of all, our waiter brought 3 appetizers & the french onion soup all at once for 2 people. by the time we ate one, the other one was cold. totally not impressed when we were asked how everything was, i replied everything was very tasty but i was disappointed with the amount of foie gras for $24. the amount we had was no more than a teaspoon sliced in 4 morcels. the waiter took this to heart & got on the defense. totally unprofessional. then he came back to tell us it was 3 ounces which didnt make a whole lot of sense. i will never go back & i will be letting everyone i know not to go there

Located minutes from Downtown Winnipeg on the East Side of Centre-Ville, this 100 year old train car and station remain a landmark. Definitely worth it. Gorgeous outdoor garden patio, tap beer, and trendy lights it was a good drink spot. Menu is wide ranging, typical for Winnipeg Metro pubs, but with European ambiance. Serving staff speak Francais (like menu), 'English happens, too'. Easy to find: east from Hotel Fort Gary and National Forks Markets, in French Quarter Tourist District called Saint Boniface. Walkable from Forks via le Esplanade du Riel. Gorgeous neighbourhood, too.

We had booked a table in the train car as it was supposed to rain but it didn’t so they allowed us to sit on the terrace outside. Service was quite slow but we weren’t in a hurry so that was okay. Hate to be rushed when out to dinner. Fresh bread and butter was complimentary which was nice. We shared a Caesar salad and it was enjoyable except next time I would have them hold the bacon. Way too fatty and chunky for my liking. I had the seafood risotto as I had so enjoyed it previously. It was good but not as great as before. The presentation was not as attractive and the lobster was simply some shreds, not anything that looked like lobster. I was disappointed, especially for the price they charge for the dish. My partner had the pork tenderloin special and it was excellent!

Dinner on the terrace under an umbrella. Service was paced nicely…….not rushed whatsoever. If you like cocktails, they had a book of enticing concoctions from which to choose. Nice Malbec and Rosé served by the glass (6 or 9 oz). We all really enjoyed our dinners. Starter house salad had an awesome vinaigrette and was crisp and colourful. Starter Caesar was also good…..without the bacon. Mushroom appetizer was great. Lovely basket of fresh bread and a tasty balsamic garlic oil was complimentary. Daily special was a bone in grilled pork chop with Red Lantern sauce, mashed potatoes and veggies (new carrots and broccolini spears). Salade Niçoise with salmon was superb. I truly enjoyed the risotto Royal. It was amazing and the presentation was stunning. The seafood was plentiful and the fresh veggies were so colourful. Coquilles Saint Jacque apple was also good.

We ate in the train carriage which was fun and the rest of the building is also interesting to explore. Nice atmosphere. The menu is varied with a good selection of dishes although the dessert selection brought to the table on a trolley was small. I had lamb but for what I received, it was over-priced. We did, however, have a pleasant evening with attentive service.

We went here for my birthday last year. The restaurant seemed very understaffed and was unable to keep up with a relatively small crowd. After receiving our appetizers, it took over an hour to get entrees. We complained and the manager seemed overwhelmed. Several other tables were frustrated and upset. No apology from the manager or staff. After our complaint, we were ignored further. Not happy with the service and will never return.

I took someone there for a birthday lunch. I’ve been here before, and was always very satisfied. I had the special, mussels with a white wine sauce and frites. The sauce was much too salty, and the mussels had small pieces of processed ham included. I did not like this at all. The lemon tart was delicious. Ambiance ok but noisy at times in the train part.

Lovely warm summer evening dinner to go. Their lovely patio is not yet open (Covid), so we thought we would bring our patio dinner home to our own backyard. We called ahead and our dinner was ready in about a half an hour, allowing us time to go for a walk at the Forks for about 20 minutes. That too was a lovely diversion on a warm summer evening. We picked up our dinner of Salade Nicoise for me , Steak fruit for my husband, his usual fave. Curtis recommended a lovely 2017 Reisling, KB Spring, to accompany and round out our dinner. Parfait! We highly recommend this restaurant all year round with his wonderful French menu. But it’s not so French that there isn’t something to appeal to everybody. Bon appétit.
