Ok the good: nice wine list, varied menu, good prices, great atmosphere and service. Good martinis. The bad: I second the others here trashing the steak. It is baaaaad. About a third was fat. It was cut extremely thin for a restaurant steak. The peppercorn sauce was more cream than pepper. So don’t get it (it was the ribeye).
Waitress after raved the halibut which was my second choice and I will now live forever with regret (I only found that out after I had ordered). My wife got pasta which she was quite happy with. Desert was great. Oh well. One miss one the whole night isn’t the end of the world … but it was a pretty big miss. So avoid the steak and you’re set! I’d go back.

Over the long weekend my fiancé and myself were in town looking to celebrate a successful day of finding a suit for our upcoming wedding. We phoned the restaurant for a later reservation. We spoke with Ann who was a little hesitant due to being fairly full for the evening but assured us she could make it work. Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely smiling face, it was Ann! She was very gracious in greeting us taking a special interest in what we were up to that day/celebrating. We were quickly seated and both thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful meal ahead. I usually don’t order steak because I prefer my own methods of cooking/marinating over many however, after seeing the type of beef used on the website I decided to give it a try and was very please I did! It was delicious!! Fat and sassy from out meal we made our way out for the evening to once again see Ann cheerful and all smiles at the front. Then Ann goes above and beyond with an offer to take our picture out front! All around it was a lovely experience and I will surly encourage all friends and family to dine at this fine establishment. Thank you for a wonderful evening and thank you to Ann for making it truly memorable!

Outstanding food and service in a warm, cozy bistro style atmosphere. The chef's ability to blend spices to a wonderful explosion of flavours is amazing. Service was great with a friendly smile. Desserts can best be described as sinfully decadent, but OMG, so yummy. Will be back again. This restaurant would be a memorable experience for any visitors to Vernon, whether from Canada or abroad.

We were a walk in, could not order take out as it had to be done at opening. They were accommodating as we could sit on the porch, the ambiance in the alley a tad disappointing but the food made up for it. Where they fell short. We ordered applies and main meals but did not receive a quality check in a timely manner after either. We had ordered Alfredo as I said I didn’t like the mildly spicy sauce offered but the food came with a red spicy sauce, we waited 5 plus mins to ask if this is their version of Alfredo but had to walk inside to ask. The server came and claimed that that was their Alfredo yet it was red and spicy basically a spicy rose sauce so it counter acted me trying to eliminate the heat. Then to top it all off....this review would have never been written if the 25% tip that I left had of been acknowledged, the tip reflected the food not the service. The steak in the pasta was rubbery and overcooked. We finished our meal after paying and still did not receive a goodbye or a thank you. We were dressed in casual attire and were treated accordingly.

Based on other reviews, I think this must have been the chef's night off as 3 of the 4 meals were poor and one was just bad. The rib eye steak was cooked perfectly although the presentation wasn't great and I doubt if it was 13+ oz as advertised on the menu. The picture of the chicken parmigiana in the advertising is similar in looks but the taste is zero. I think that there is too much tomato sauce that came from a can. Because of the general poor food quality I think that the prices are too high. Service was excellent. Because the restaurant was full, our experience could have been just choosing the wrong items on the menu and/or the wrong night to be in the restaurant.

First time we were here the food was great, the rest was not. This time was the same. Great food, although quite pricey, but this time the service was equally good. That’s when we could hear our server - the noise in this place is insane! At first glance it appears you’ll have a nice quaint meal…until tables fills up and you find yourself hollering across the table and still can’t be heard. Yes, there was a large group of partiers across from us who they basically commandeered the restaurant, but at these prices it’s the last time for us.

Reviews should be to help the restaurant for them to see another point of view in order to improve customer service and product quality. I have a few points to mention from our visit. The atmosphere is welcoming and the effort to accommodate the two of us was appreciated. We were expecting it to be fine dining and have more of a Mediterranean influence. In the wine per glass selection, there was only one Italian wine offered. We were disappointed with the servers recommendation of moving to the happy hour selection of our appetizer, which was significantly smaller than she told us. We noticed tables were welcomed with bread and we had to ask how come we never got any. Someone mentioned that it is not automatically prepared before 5:00 PM therefore, we received it in the middle of our entree. We ordered the veal parmigiana and the AAA strip loin Manzo bocconcini pasta. I received the veal parmigiana with pasta even though the menu states gnocchi and the pasta with strip loin was fatty and hard to chew. I asked the server why this was the case and she went to check the menu because she wasn’t sure what came with it, and blamed it on being “new.” The pasta was not up to standard we were looking for something fresh and of quality for the experience. Someone else had to come accommodate me for having the wrong side because my server made a mistake and was not familiar with the menu. She seemed nervous and poorly trained. At the end of the meal we received chocolate covered mint leaves, which were not appealing. We both work in the industry and we’re overall disappointed.

We visited Intermezzo yesterday for my Birthday. I made a reservation a week ahead, but when we got there we ended up waiting 25 minutes in the lobby for our table. the hostess gave us a taste of wine to pass the time, but when i have a reservation, I expect the restaurant to have a table. There is no excuse. When we finally got seated and got menus, we decided on the lobster and artichoke dip that was very tasty. For our entree we picked Veal Oscar , and i had my heart set on Orange duck, which they were out at 6pm ? so my second choice was lamb. Both entree's came served on hot plates, very well presented and were very good. My lamb was like butter, so tender and perfectly cooked. My compliments to the chef. There is an extensive wine list, but like in most good restaurant completely overpriced. We picked an Italian Chianti, Nippozano that was very good. We would love to have picked a BC wine, but until they get off their high horse and lower the prices, we will drink imports. There is no reason that I should be able to get an excellent quality wine from halfway around the world for half the price of a wine locally made a 100 km away.??? something wrong there somewhere.
For dessert we picked a Raspberry sorbet and some coffee's. all very good and well presented. The service could have been a bit more attentive but overall was okay.
One problem, which I am certain not being the only one is although we like the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant, it is almost impossible to read the menu, unless you have a flashlight on your phone, it is just to dark.
Otherwise i would recommend the Intermezzo for a nice dinner.
The menu prices are in line with other fine restaurants.

Our second time here. Always amazing food, amazing service and amazing atmosphere.
I always get a steak, this time a new York and top it with garlic prawns and gorgonzola butter. OMG that butter is beyond out of this world awesome. If you haven't tried it, prepare for your taste buds for an overload of goodness. The steak at intermezzos is the BEST in the Okanagan valley.👌Wife had the bolognese which she liked alot. Also shared some Alaskan King Crab Artichoke Dip as an appy, awesome.
Plus the fresh out of the oven bread and garlic butter is a bonus at the beginning.
Mairyn was our server this time and she was really great. Attentive and super friendly.
We'll always come back here and tell friends too.
Can't wait to go back.

What I was expecting was a romantic birthday dinner for two at a hugely popular restaurant.
What I got was an amazing atmosphere, service that was definitely at another level (thank you Jenifer) and probably the worst steak I've had in memory. It was fatty, stringy and I found a bone shard in it. It was the only time, ever, I have been served a filet and doubted the cut of beef.

I have been to Happy Hour countless times - amazing value and staff are wonderful. We then went for our Anniversary dinner - knowing how filling the appies are we just went with main courses. Halibut was perfectly done and the Pasta with prawns was recommended as servers favorite and it too was amazing!! So big we can to take some home! Dessert trio is worth every bite - perfectly sized to share and not feel too full. We will be back!! Even without a view it has such wonderful ambiance that you feel like you are in Europe or any other wonderful place!

Best meal I have had this year by a wide margin. Excellent service by staff that look like they really enjoy their work. Really top notch. Comparable to Old Surrey restaurant, bouchons, la bussola. Vernon is lucky to have such an excellent establishment. Drinks, starters and mains were all 5 star. The best of what we had consisted of escargot casino, scallops and prawns, but the best of it all was the ribeye with peppercorn sauce. Only meals that came even close this year were from blu saffron and also garden bistro. Enjoyed ourselves from start to finish. We were a walk-in at 1600 on Saturday but if you show up later you will probably need a reservation. Highly recommend and we will return.pictures posted.

Beautiful dinner with family. For anyone visiting from Edmonton (when permitted to visit again) I would compare the food quality at Intermezzo to the coveted “Corso32”…. While we currently reside in YEG we were born and raised in Vernon so potentially have some bias. Food was spectacular, the vegetarian menu was offered to one of us and the selections off that menu was also top notch. The service was impeccable and given the current situation in the hospitality industry it shows that extra care has been taken in retaining stellar staff. Thank you for a memorable and delicious evening.

Very disappointing. Our server warned us that there was an issue in the kitchen and things were slow. They definitely were slow but the quality of the food did not make up for the wait. My pasta was bland, the asparagus very woody and inedible and the focaccia was overdone and dry. My husbands pasta was also underwhelming. We did have a good salad and house bread.
The service was pleasant but did nothing to make up for the long wait from the kitchen. We were here a year ago and they were also having an “off” kitchen day. Maybe it’s the pandemic but we won’t give intermezzo another chance.

The is the first time we have visited this restaurant. We had a delightful meal! The atmosphere is excellent - you can be seated a distance from other folks. The food was exquisite. My husband and I both had the duck, and felt it was one of the best restaurant meals we've ever had. The service was excellent - friendly and professional. We most certainly will be back.
