About
The Breakwater Cafe & Bistro opened in Autumn 2012. Formerly known as the Ogden Point Cafe, the restaurant has been a staple in James Bay for nearly 20 years. Enjoy a glass of wine or a pint of beer while taking in the sunset from our patio, or pop into the cafe for a coffee or snack before a stroll on the breakwater. We offer counter service from 9:00 until 4:00pm serving breakfast until noon and lunch until 4:00. Full Bar and Table Service starts at 4:00pm onward until we close. Join us every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday night for live music and local musicians starting at 8:00pm. When summer hits have a seat on our Licensed Patio that basks in the sun all day long. Have a refreshing beer,

We walked to Ogden Point and decided to stop in for a coffee break and enjoy the sunny day on their deck. It is an Ok place and more enjoyable sitting outside. We had tea and snacks (gluten free cookie and blueberry Square). Service was...More

This place completely screwed us around on what was supposed to be an intimate, low key new years eve dinner on the water!!! We were regular customers at this place on past trips to Victoria and always looked forward to the waterfront setting and decent...More

We looked online and phoned to see if they had space for dinner - neither mentioned they were renovating or that there menu was extremely limited. Water bottle on table was dirty inside...ewww! Then my daughter was given a coke with a hair in it....More

This restaurant is lively , full of locals year round and both locals and visitors in the summer . Food is pretty good. I feel their baked goods could be a lot better. Breakfasts are good. Lunch is also good. Coffee is OK. Orders are...More

Staff friendly but food disappointing for a cafe/bistro. No kids menu. Suspect the microwave is well used. Most customers are there for the entertainment. Unlikely to return.

We sat and watched the passers-by while sipping a cool drink. What a great spot after a stroll on the seawall! We will definitely be back.

Perhaps it’s better to visit a place like this in the summer. It was busy inside so we had to sit outdoors. The outdoor heaters weren’t working so we were a little chilled. I had a veggie burger which was disappointing. It was bland and...More

Thought we would give this place a try with soup and salad. First off, you have to stand in line and order your food, right in front of the tip jar. And you want a tip for less service. A very small, tasteless bowl of...More

This place is great to stop for a coffee or snack before talking a walk down ogden point or Dallas road. The service is always amazing and I love their commitment to limiting to-go cups and waste. I have also been for dinner which was...More

Breakwater Cafe & Bistro is definitely a place to visit when you're in Victoria. I don't know what was better, the eggs benedict with smoked Pacific salmon or the view of the Pacific Ocean.
