Steak-Frites joints abound in Quebec and parts of France. But to run into a really good one in Victoria is perhaps a surprise. Brasserie is always good. Slight changes to the dependable menu are made to maximize local produce. But there's always a good steak...More

This was my first dining experience at Brasserie L'ecole. I stood forth in line at 4:50pm for the 5:30pm seating. It was February and the sleet was coming in sideways. I thought I was getting hypothermic. I have to say, it was all worth it....More

L'ecole has a very nice casual french brasserie ambiance and seems to be very popular with the locals which is always a good sign. After numerous enthusiastic recommendations we scurried over to L'ecole on a Tuesday evening to wait in line...no reservations. We arrived at...More

We were staying in Victoria for the evening and my wife found this great restaurant. They don't take reservations but they took our cell number and gave us a ring when the table was ready. It was well worth the wait. The staff were nice...More

My husband and I were given a gift certificate to Brasserie L'ecole. We are Victorians, but had never been to this restaurant. We arrived about 5:15 pm, and the lineup was already building. We got in just fine when the restaurant opened at 5:30 pm,...More

This was our favourite restaurant in Victoria. We have been there a dozen times in the last two years. The menu has hardly changed, even though it is promoted as being changed daily. It was worth standing inline at 5:15 until it opened at 5:30....More

We went here on the highest recommendation of a well known local business owner. Since the restaurant doesn't accept reservations, we arrived prior to its early evening opening. It took fifteen minutes before someone came to take our order. After placing our order, we sat...More

Part of the fun is standing in line to get in but I think that if you come later it would be easy to get a seat. I felt I truly was in France. The wine was great and the steak frites or moules frites...More

If I've reviewed this restaurant before, apologies, but a great restaurant that has maintained it's standards for years deserves a re-look. When we eat in France, we never go "haute-cuisine" but choose neighbourhood bistros where steak-frites is a menu mainstay. This place feels like you're...More

This place was wonderful. No reservations but you can go down the street and have a drink while you wait and they will call. I would describe it as a high class pub like atmosphere (but it is a bistro) on a small scale with...More

No valet parking. You have to park on the street or in the parking near by. Also you have to be there early for the first seating at 5.30pm or you will have to wait until 7.00 pm next seating. No reversation taken.
